I ordered 2 Echinacea's, "Sundown" which arrived first and in good condition just a couple of wilted leaves and 1 broken stem and "Twilight" which came about 2 weeks later on back order. It was not in as good condition as most of the soil had spill out and it was dry. It has started to come around now though. My only real complaint is they state 2-3 days ship time and it was actually 5 days to arrive at my home in Indiana. The shipping process started on the weekend and they arrived on Tues.& Wed.
The customer service is excellent as I did have a couple of questions and they were very prompt in their response back!

On August 10th, 2006, nanny_56 changed the rating from positive to neutral and added the following:

My "Twilight Echinacea" is still struggling as August 10, while "Sundown" is thriving and growing. Twilight is still a meager 11-1/2 inches tall with only 3 stems these plants are planted in the same bed about 4 - 5 feet apart and Twilight gets the most sun. I feel the plant will probably not survive the winter and I will be looking for a replacement plant next spring. If I happen to come across one locally before then It will be replaced sooner.
On August 24th, 2006, nanny_56 changed the rating from neutral to positive and added the following:

Wow! I was contacted through dmail that they wished to replace my "Twilight". I was very surprised but so happy. I love this plant. This was on the 17th. It shipped out late afternoon the 21st and I just received it about 15 minutes ago, the 24th.

The first words I said were "wow", "fantastic", " now THAT's a plant!" They absolutley surpassed my expectations. Shipping was much faster this time and the size of the plant
excellent. I am now a very satisfied customer!!
Thank you very much Garden Crossings & Chad!!

I bought a ton of plants from Garden Crossings last year and they were absolutely beautiful, well packed, and promptly shipped. The plants were all larger and much healthier than expected (especially since I received my Spring Hill order first, YIKES! *It* was pathetic!) All my GC plants are doing VERY well and I fully intend on buying more from them. The plants are actually in better shape than what my local nurseries have! You can be confident that GC will send the best, right to your door. It's well worth it.

I think this company is outstanding. Although they may be a bit pricier than some other mail order places, for me it was definitely worth it. Their communication and customer service is excellent. The packaging was first rate with no plant damage and they did it without exceesive waste and NO annoying peanuts! I will definitely be ordering from them again.

I received my ordered plants from Garden Crossings today. I was very pleased. The plants were very well packaged and arrived safely. I was surprised at how large they were. They were around 10 inches tall and fully leafed out. A healthy green color. This is the first time I have ordered from garden Crossings. I have ordered many plants on-line and this is the best company I've ordered from so far.

I have ordered several times over the last two years and have been very delighted with their service and quality of the plants. I had one negative experience which cause me to make this a neutral rating. They sent me three astra pinks Platycodon. As usual they were in their 2 quarts containers but the roots system took up only the top 1/4 of the pot if that much. When i tried to remove the plant from the pot it separated from the rest of the soil. I called and was told that this plant has shallow root system. My question is why put it in such a big pot and charge for the dirt. I suggested mybe change the size of the pot for those plants that wont fill their std size.

On July 11th, 2007, hts changed the rating from neutral to positive and added the following:

Since my last posting I have ordered multiple other times. I can honestly say that they will try to correct any errors or mishaps with their shipments. All of their plants are healthy and should do well in your gardens. This nursery is one of three that I would rate as tops.

I placed my first order with this business based on some comments I read on Daves Garden and because they are located in my general area.
Aside from an initial customer service goof up on when to send my order (they sent them sooner then I asked and charged my debit card before I was expecting them to) the plants are top quality and were very well packed for shipping.
Plants are a little pricey but probably worth it.
Great selection of plants with new and interesting varieties not always available from other sources.

Packagining was flawless and even FedEx couldn't damage it. They did not make any errors on the shipment and all 50+ plants were accurate and included. VERY VERY Satisfied. This is my first experience with Garden Crossing and I felt confident when I placed my order due to the number of positive comments here. I was not disappointed.

I ordered a total of 13 plants (Heucheras, Coppertina, Sambucus, Amsonia, Columbine, Delphinium and Armeria). They all arrived very large and healthy looking. They were packaged very well and were not the least bit dried out upon arrival. I unpacked them, watered them and this morning I placed them in the flowerbeds. They look right at home with the other plantings.

They notified me yesterday that my order had shipped, and I received it today! (I'm live in Ohio and they're in Michigan, but I still think that's fast.) The plants are large, and in beautiful shape. The soil was still intact and moist. These plants don't even look like they have been shipped.

I will definitely order from Garden Crossings again. Their service and product are A+++

Although shipping is not inexpensive, but when is it, I must say the plants themselves were fairly priced, especially considering the size, health and extremely fine packaging.

Just received my order today. Superb!

On time and fast shipping. (I had 5 or 6 orders expected for this week and theirs was the first to arrive!) Healthy plants. Large. Many in bud. All labelled well. Packed well. Reasonable prices, including shipping charges which most places really jack up.

I had never heard of GC prior to seeing it posted here and I wondered if the high reviews might be planted (cynic that I am), but I can assure you, it was the BEST mail order I have ever received and I've received plenty (plant geek that I am) .

These plants were as good as I would get at a quality local garden center -- without the hassle.

My only 2 teeny negatives is that I wish they offerred a more comprehensive plant list. There is plenty, but many things I was considering were not offerred. Plus, their web site had a few navigation shortcomings IMO, but nothing terrible. I sent some suggestions along.

They are also excellent at prompt email responses for questions.

Oh and they don't charge your account until the order is processed! I can't stand it when companies charge you in January to "reserve" the plants supposedly.

I probably have gone on long enough, but this was kind of ironic: The same day that I was marvelling at this order, I was communicating about a back-order delay with another company. They held up my shipment to communicate with me about this back-order, which should have been dealt with well in advance of the ship date. I saw that GC had the item that the other company was back-ordering (same price twice the size!!!). So I just placed ANOTHER order with GC and cancelled the first one from the other company (who charged me in January but didn't even "reserve" the plants!)

On May 31st, 2006, plantaholic2 changed the rating from positive to neutral and added the following:

Now that I've gotten to planting them all, I unfortunately have to add some negative information and will change my overall rating to neutral. I don't know if I will use them again.

The root systems on most of the plants were disappointingly small. Had I known that while they sat outside and waited for planting, I would not have let them get exposed to so much rain. With jumbo pots consisting of 90% soil and 10% roots, a few didn't make it through some prolonged rains.

The only positive spin possible here is that I have started noticing that plants from local garden centers are also starting to come in with mostly soil. That is a new observation (to me), so it looks like an industry trend. (which doesn't make me any happier!)

My 2nd order was not packed as well as the first. Dirt was all over the place.

I received my order today. The plants are large and healthy.

The box was a little banged up on arrival--NOT Garden Crossing's fault. The plants inside were NOT banged up--and that's half the point of a good box: it can take a beating without passing that beating on to the contents.

A couple of the plants had a bit of freeze damage on some outer leaves, and that also is NOT Garden Crossing's fault, considering the Rocky Mountains and Wyoming are between their location and mine. I also asked for my plants earlier than is considered safe. It's still winter in the Rockies, so I'm not surprised things probably got a bit cold in the FedEx truck.

On May 19th, 2006, nevadagdn added the following:

Three shipments later, with plants all intact (excepting that freeze damage, and expected freeze damage at that), I have concluded that if the box says "Garden Crossings" on the "from" label, the Fedex guys see that as "This is a rugby ball. Kick, drop and otherwise mutilate me". Fortunately, the packing inside is sufficient to prevent the plants from being damaged. Still--to the Fedex guys: You do NOT have to emulate the gorillas in the old Samsonite ad!
On May 22nd, 2006, nevadagdn added the following:

All of the plants I received were at least 2-year-old plants, although after starting many plants from seed myself, I have come to understand that doesn't mean it will be a gallon-sized or even quart-sized plant, regardless of pot size. Nothing I received was pathetically small, even if the plants were sent in what I consider to be inappropriately large pots. Everything was, in fact, nice, large (for the age) and stocky. Even the freeze-touched plants are growing nicely now. I wonder what I won't be able to live without next year...
On October 12th, 2007, nevadagdn added the following:

I just received an order of end-of-season plant sale offerings: everthing is healthy and well-grown. One plant has suffered a bit from heat and drought, but the damage is superficial (leaf edges on older leaves are crispy). The prices were very good, and even that slightly damaged plant is well worth the price. I'll probably order from Garden Crossings next spring.
On April 25th, 2008, nevadagdn added the following:

This spring's order was very nice, although I don't think I'll order the "eco-plug" in future. For two dollars more, I get a lot more plant and a pot I'll use, use and re-use.
