Positive | RBlades (2 reviews) | On Jul 3, 2009, RBlades Wayland, MA wrote: Over the past few months, I placed a number of orders with another mail order plant supplier (rated #1 on this site) and was extremely disappointed with the size, vigor, and overall quality of the plants. This experience made me extremely leary of doing any more business with mail order suppliers. However, I am in the process of redoing the landscaping on 3 acres of my property, and with so many new plants to purchase, I can't help but be drawn to good prices that help keep the overall cost of the project within reason and to plant variety not available locally. So I thought I would give it another shot and ordered a few plants from Garden Crossings as a test to see if they might met my expectations and become my new plant supplier. My plants arrived yesterday, and with a little bit of trepidation, I opened the box to see what surprises awaited me. The difference in my two shopping experiences is night and day. The packaging was excellent (no irritating styrofoam peanuts) and the plants (which were sale plants) were beautiful - healthy, vibrant, covered with blooms, and all set to be immediate stars in their new beds. This company deserves to be at the head of the line in Dave's ratings. You can tell that they take real pride in growing and supplying outstanding plants. If I could give them a SUPER POSITIVE rating, I would. They definitely have earned my future business and I would highly recommend them to all of you. GREAT JOB GARDEN CROSSINGS!!!! |

I order from them every spring and their plants are always packaged well and the plants come in good shape. I have ordered several shrubs and a few perennials and all are growing and doing well. They offer a lot of the new varieties at a resonable price. This company defintely deserves its spot as one of the Top Watchdog Companies! |
Positive | nwh (3 reviews) | On Jun 13, 2009, nwh Chicago, IL wrote: I ordered a tree peony and admit I was a bit skeptical about purchasing a shrub in a 5 1/2" pot by mail order. I was afraid it would be small and wilted. But I have not been able to find this plant locally and the positive feedback on this website convinced me to try it. I must say I am impressed with the size of the plant's leaves and the root system. It is fresh and green, the leaves were just a bit bent from being in the package. I would second what others have said about the quality of Garden Crossings packaging--it is first rate and was certainly put to the test here. Despite my instructions to leave the package by the side door if no one was home, our Fed Ex delivery person threw the package over the back fence and it took 2 days for me to notice it was out there. The plant was still perfectly ok and the dirt did not spill out of the pot. |
Positive | aegir (7 reviews) | On Jun 11, 2009, aegir Bethesda, MD wrote: I ordered 4 rebecca clematis form garden crossings this spring, all arrived in pristine condition with the vines staked and over a foot tall with flowers on them in the box. I bought a jackmannii from my local nursery a few years ago and these were about the same size With all the rain and wet soil we've had this spring, the vines have been growing like gangbusters and they perpetually flower as advertised, I was very happy with the service and plants, would highly recommend garden crossings. |

Best looking clematis of it's size I've seen. At first I thought the prices were a little high, but seeing the size of the plants, and how much I would pay locally for the same size, they are not bad. Plus they had the clematis I really wanted in stock. |

Big, healthy and the packing was awesome. 3 out of 6 coneflowers already had blooms and new buds. My very first order and I was very impressed. This is a company I will definitely order from again and again. The old saying you get what you pay for is right on! Thank you for a wonderful first time experience. |

I already have 5, and needed to ad, and was thrilled to see that this top company offered what I needed! They arrived thriving and well-packaged, with sticks in the soil equal to the height of the box to prevent the plants from being bounced too much! Very impressed! Their website is not only visually appealing, but already easy to use and informative. I liked how you could pick the ship week as it made it clear when the plants should arrive. I have since received a catalogue and coupon and already used them! I expect order #2 sometime next week! I can't wait to do business again in the future as I continue to add to my garden! |

They back ordered a rosemary and I'm confident it'll be just as good. My only complaint is that they describe their viola Black Magic which is gorgeous as far as colour goes, as being fragrant and big disappointment....it's not!!!!! One of the reasons I bought her was for its supposedly being fragrant. Oh, well, nothing is perfect!!!! |
Neutral | edhjennifer (1 review) | On Apr 27, 2009, edhjennifer El Dorado Hills, CA (Zone 8a) wrote: I ordered the incrediball hydrangea and received the plant at the appropriate time. I was very disappointed when I opened the box and realized this plant was tiny. The very few leaves it had were wilted and falling off the plant. I contacted the company and was told to go ahead and plant it, wait 2 weeks and let them know if it was still in bad shape. Well...2 weeks later and the plant is dead. I'm disappointed because I really wanted this plant and was also upset because the plant was so small and in bad shape when I received it. All of the other 11 hydrangeas that I bought from local nurseries, at half the price of the incrediball hydrangea, are doing very well. |
Positive | BlissfulGarden (51 reviews) | On Apr 25, 2009, BlissfulGarden Baton Rouge, LA wrote: Over the past few weeks, I have received mail order clematis from five different vendors. They varied in size and price quite a bit, but I'm happy to say that all the plants are thriving and happy... from every vendor. Garden Crossings offered a good selection with fair prices. Their plants appear to be cultivars they purchased from other growers and then grew out to larger size in their own containers. I say this because my clematis plants were in identical quart-size containers, but had ID tags from various growers. The roots and foliage were full and healthy... quite impressive. But, most impressive was the packaging and shipping. OUTSTANDING! They put each large clematis plant in a separate box, and then paired two smaller boxes inside larger boxes for shipping. The pots were held secure in place so that the plants were completely protected with double cardboard all the way here. The box could be turned in any direction without the plant moving or the dirt displacing. I truly appreciate the care Garden Crossings took to ensure that the plants arrived at my home in the same condition in which they left the nursery. I will happily be a repeat customer in the future. A++++ vendor! =) |

Their website is easy to navigate, the ordering process is excellent. And, they are quick to respond to an e-mail. I hated to hear the negative response, but this happens sometimes. I am very pleased with my business dealings with them. Oh, and I just received my latest shipment, 7/11/08 and even had blooms on one of the plants, and the packaging well it was over the top as usual. When ordering by mail you would expect to have scrawny plants sometimes [yes, I've been given a reality check a time or 2 with other vendors] but I'm always pleased with Garden Crossings, good root system, healthy plants. The shock of transporting any plants, especially large plants is to be expected, not to mention the cost of shipping large plants. I guess you could call me a fan. |

At the time, they were running a special: no shipping charges for orders over $100. My order was over $100, so I expected no shipping charges. It turned out that one of the plants ordered was no longer available. My order dropped below $100 and shipping charges were added back and charged to my credit card. Garden Crossings caught this snafu themselves, called me to explain the error, and credited my account for the shipping. |

Both orders arrived in a timely manner, well packed, in excellent condition. The plants are indeed large and healthy as advertised. Shortly after the first order arrived a poppy died (they can be very difficult to transplant and keep going). They gave me a generous credit for future orders. When they offered a free shipping special I placed a second order which arrived in three days again in superb condition. The cone flowers are especially strong. While the prices may seem high they are comparable to other high end companies and the plants are considerably stronger and larger than most web companies. I will definitely order from this company again as they offer unique perennials. Their customer service has also proven to be outstanding and caring. |

They seem to have potted a 5.5 inch plant in a 3 gallon container. Both plants have black spot, wilted, bone dry, very few healthy shoots or roots. needless to say I gave these away, and after one of the owners rude customer service, I will never deal with this company again, I don't think Chad Walters works here anymore?
