Comments regarding Garden Crossings LLC

Their plants are huge and screaming with health and vigor. I have not seen better packing than Garden Crossings'. Plants arrive with not a leaf out of place, nor a speck of soil disturbed. I am a big cheapskate and I always think their prices are steep UNTIL my plants arrive, then I'm delighted.

I ordered 4 clematis vines. All arrived with large healthy roots and grew very well over the summer. 2 of them even produced small flowers.
Impressive quality plants and packaging.

I ordered blueberry bushes from their sale. All of the transaction went very well, response to order, shipping time, notification of shipping.

Plants are very good size and in excellent shape due to incredible packing.

Would gladly order again.

I wish I had checked this link before ordering. I have ordered hundreds of bulbs from another company. I just ordered the Heuchera Osidian and the Heuchera Alabama Surprise from Garden Crossings. They did not have 2 other heucheras in stock. So I ordered them from this other company with a luscious catalogue and stunning website. The Heucheras from Garden Crossings were ten times the size AND cheaper than those from the other company. They arrived today (10/14) beautifully packed, glossy & healthy via Fedex, after ordering them on 10/9/10. I was shocked to see the other 2 inch high Heucheras from the other company. I doubt that they will survive the winter. I will post back with the results. I will definitely use Garden Crossings again for any unusual item that I can't find locally. Thanks.

The plant I received was fraudulently small for the price extorted -- and in a huge box. A waste of my money and of a good portion of a perfectly good tree for the 3 foot tall cardboard box holding the six inch plant. From the reviews here, I gather that my experience was not typical or that there are a lot of inexperienced mail-order gardeners who have never ordered from a reputable mail order nursery and received that for which they paid. It's all relative.

I am doing this review about 6 weeks late. On July 15th, I received about 10 daylilies, which I had ordered only a few days before. I was thrilled with the size of the plants and how healthy they were. They were all packed extremely well , they sent tracking information and told me when they were shipped. Everything about Garden Crossings was outstanding...the plants, the packing, the communications. I had read about them here on Garden Watchdog, and am extremely pleased with this company!

Fantastic packing and very fast shipping! The 2 hydrangeas I ordered are full and obviously very healthy plants. I hadn't been able to find the type I was looking for locally, and I decided to order from Garden Crossings. I couldn't be happier and will add them to my favorite online plant purveyors!

Well, I have to say.. I am impressed by the size, health, and vigor of the plants I have bought at Garden Crossings! This is my first time buying from them. I thought I would give them a try because they were on DW top 30. Boy, they can't be beat!
I bought a peach flambe heuchera, a Henryi clematis, and a Beauty of Worcester clematis. All three were boxed wonderfully. Shipped fast, even before I even knew they were shipped lol. All three were BIG, Strong, and healthy! Thankyou, thankyou, thankyou sooo much!
Do I have to say? Yes, I will be back.

I recently ordered from Garden Crossings. I spend $500-$600 worth of plants from them. The plants were not as big as I had expected but they were just pruned down to fit in a box. I was very pleased with this site. All of my plants came alive and they all looked great. Since I have recieved them most of the plants have been planted. Only the Lugwort and Lupine are not doing so good and I think that is my fault for not watering them enough. They are in the shade. The Lupine was damaged from strong winds aswell because it is bent. I think it will be fine though. The first year is just the growing year anyways. I am happy with my order and the rest of my plants are doing great. The Clematis, Grapes and Joe Pye Weed are even decent size. I know I can get bigger plants from a local nursery which is what I usually do but sometimes you have to go online to get a specific plant like Rose of Sharon and this sit has a big selection of perrenials and shrubs.

They even have a descent variaty of fruits and vegtebals. I would definantly order from this site before any other site. They even list how much of a product is left and even let you pick your own shipping date. They never ship on weekends. Best of all they have great reviews for a lot of plants and have helpfull staff if you send them a comment. They even have free shipping and handeling in June if you spend $100 worth of plants.

Now if you go to Wal-Mart you can get a nice plant for 5-8 bucks in June but they have a limited selection and usually it is what everyone else has. Hostas, Lilies and Hydrangeas which I don't care for. Garden Crossings has most plants around 16 bucks which is about what most mail sites charge which is more expensive but you get to pick from over 2,000 plants and some of these plants you won't find in a local nursery. This is much better than going to Wal-Mart.

I checked every site in the top 30 and this is the site I went with. I am glad I did. Thanks Garden Crossing.

I ordered raspberry and blueberry bushes. I received a prompt email confirmation, Fedex shipping number and in less than a week the plants arrived. Very well packed, vibrant green, very healthy looking. Very satisfying experience.

SUCH a positive experience! Generously sized plants arrived the week after Mother's Day, just as I had requested. Plants were well packaged and had travelled well: no signs of stress, well-hydrated, minimal travel scars. Ingenious packaging consisted primarily of cardboard, which is recyclable (yea!). Plants were so big and mature that many have since bloomed and are easily establishing themselves in my yard. I had a number of questions about various plants before I placed my order, and each of my emails was quickly and graciously answered by Heidi. So pleased and satisfied. Thank you!

I have been very pleased with my plants from Garden Crossings. Recently 3 oxalis died due to a delay in the package being delivered during a time of 90 degree plus temperatures. Garden Crossings allowed me to select three replacement plants and mailed them at no cost to me.

I ordered several hellebores and received healthy plants that were larger than similar plants that I received from two other online nurseries. All seem to be doing well, and I will order from Garden Crossings again.

Awesome plant vendor! This is the 2nd year I've ordered from Garden Crossings and have not been disappointed yet. In fact they saved a flower bed design for this year. I purchased a veronica plant at a local nursery earlier in the season, then changed my layout requiring another of the same variety to flank a hybrid tea rose. Well, of course the local place was out of this variety, but not Garden Crossings. I let them know the size of my current plant, and they were able to almost match the one I had. It was a little smaller, but it would've been almost impossible to find an exact replica. So happy!
They are a bit expensive for plants and shipping, but you get your large size plants in a pot, no bare roots. This in itself is great when you're not sure when you can get them planted. Also the varieties they carry, that you cannot find at your local greenhouses, are wonderful. Will definitely be ordering from them many years in the future. Give them a try! :-)

Bought two clematis recently. For 5.5 inch pots, they are small plants - one of them was about 3 inches tall. Not the size I expected for a highly rated nursery in Dave's Watchdog and for the plant size described in their website. I am giving it a neutral rating because, although small, they are alive.

My first order with Garden Crossings will definitely not be my last. My order of Becky Daisies was promptly shipped with Fedex Home Delivery, which I received on a Saturday. To my delight, the plants arrived lush and healthy with no signs of stress or damage. I would not hesitate to recommend this company.

I ordered two plants, a blackberry and a bosenberry. They arrived in great shape, nice leaves, good size. I encountered no problems in planting, no shock. They began to grow right away.

All I can say is WOW. My plants arrived today and these are some of the largest I have ever received via mail order. They were beautifully packed and very healthy looking. This is my first time ordering from this company but it certainly will not be my last. Highly recommended.

I stumbled onto the website purely by accident. I spent weeks looking through their online catalog and imagining my dream garden. I really wanted to grow hydrangeas. I really wanted to grow the really big globe type.

I called Garden Crossings and the phone was answered by a human being! No automated answering system! I spoke with Heidi, who I later learned is one of the owners of Garden Crossings. She was not only knowledgeable but extremely helpful in building my dream garden. I learned that while the globe type hydrangeas will grow in my area, they require a lot of additional care, water, soil prep, etc. We have very low humudity and it gets very warm in the summer and downright cold in the winter. Heidi suggested the bracketed type, because they flower on new and old wood, will tolerate the heat and cold and are beautiful.

The garden I had been struggeling with for over 3 years was becoming a reality. It is on the north side of the house, with little sun. Heidi also made some recommendations for other plants that would work under those conditions.

When my order arrived, the plants were georgous! No scrawny little roots, or tiny little plugs. They were nursery quality, healthy, thriving plants. The garden has only been in the ground for a week, but the plants are all growing beautifully!

I have placed 4 separate orders with this company and every one was shipped on schedule and arrived in great condition with beautiful well grown plants - very different from other online plant buying experiences that I have had. I will definitely buy from them again. The shipping is expensive, but it is Fed Ex and arrvied in three days, therefore not languishing in weather extremes. The careful packing also contributes positively. I would rather pay more to have plants arrive healthy and I believe the price of the plants to be very reasonable. My purchases have been perennial hibiscus, Incrediball Hydrangea and two clematis. All are settling in, putting out new growth and looking fine. This is where I will return for online plant shopping!

I ordered a hydrangea through Garden Crossings. When it arrived, I was very impressed with how large and healthy the plant was and how very well shipped it was!

I ordered plants this spring from several different mail order companies, and the plants I received from Garden Crossings far surpassed those from other companies in size, apparent health, and packing. The plants all appear to be more than a year old. In particular the coneflowers from Garden Crossings are all 10-12" tall and well filled out, vs: coneflowers from a couple of other places are practically seedlings - 4" tall. I definitely feel I got my money's worth from Garden Crossings and the next time I need to order online I will check with them first for availability.

I received my order from Garden Crossings last week. It was my first time ordering from them. I was very pleased with the plants they sent. I thought their packaging was very good. No soil anywhere, no peanuts. The plants were healthy. I made an addition to my order two weeks before shipping via e-mail and received a prompt reply with the additions included. I will order from them in the future.

The plants I receive from them are the quality I would have selected had I been shopping in their store rather than shopping on line. Excellent quality sent in a timely fashion, well packed.

My order was for 5 Syringa Bloomerang Lilacs .A very kind, and knowlegeable person took my order. C.C was not charged until time of shipping. Arrived the day I was told on the phone, and each shrub was packed in it's own cell, and in a sturdy box. Excellent company.

First time with GC and I will be purchasing from them again. All my plants arrived in perfect shape and will be planted tomorrow. I would have appreciated an email that the plants were being shipped, but that ended up not being an issue this time (I was not traveling). Thank you:-)

I ordered (3) Tree Peonies in late June. Unfortunately, just before they shipped in Oct., they said there was a mistake when taking inventory of their stock and they ran out of one kind I ordered:( The remaining (2) arrived last week and I planted/watered them immediately. Of the two bareroots, one looked healthy with large green leaves and eyes, the other was considerably smaller in both respects(on the edge?). Overall, the customer service was good and my emails were answered within 48 hours. The packing was OK, as the cardboard box was a bit bashed when it arrived but the plants seemed unhurt despite a few broken leaves. The roots were in soil in plastic pots and secured with rubberbands. Pricing was excellent. This was my first time ordering from GC. I will post a follow-up in the spring.

They allowed me to choose to receive my plants 3 weeks before normal shipping time for the Spring...which I appreciated...even though I gave up their guarantee.

The cost is a little high BUT I will be honest and say that I have never seen a shipment of plants come in such good shape through the mail ever. (I buy a lot through the mail) They pack the plants incredibly well. It is shocking to open the box and see each plant getting it's own slot. Just incredible packing is all that I can say. It was a good experience purchasing from them and I would do so again.

This is a great company from which to order plants. The website is convenient and easy to use, and I love the fact that it stores a history of my past orders. The prices seem fair, and the plants I have received have all been much larger (like 2-3 times) than plants from other major mailorder nurseries I've used. I can't say what customer service is like, since I have not had a complaint to lodge or a problem to resolve, but if I am interested in a plant from another nursery I do find it useful to check if it's available through Garden Crossings. I just wish they had more unusual or rare plants as well.

WOW--my first experience with Garden Crossings and I must say outstanding!!!!! I took a leap of faith and placed a large order online ($265, which included free shipping) in mid August. My order consisted of ornamental grasses, Buddleias and some Russian Sage. The plants arrived in 3 days. They were all full-sized, healthy plants and were packed perfectly with no damage at all! They Buddleias were in full bloom!!! Amazing!! I took the chance to plant here in NC during the sweltering heat of August....with great results. The largest of the Buddleia (2 gal.) seemed to be droopy for a few days after planting. I emailed customer service (on a Sat. evening) and received a response within minutes from Heidi!!! She told me since the plant was large, that it is going through a bit of transplant shock and to water it everyday. Well, I watered it and babied it a bit (I even put a beach umbrella over it during the hottest midday sun!). It took about 2 weeks and then the plant adjusted and is a healthy blooming machine!!! The Russian Sage has been blooming like crazy as well as the other buddleias!!! I will be placing many orders with them!!! I highly recommend Garden Crossings as an outstanding mail order source!!!!

I'm so thrilled with the 2 plants I just received from Garden Crossings! After being stung numerous times from some other online vendors, what I got is unbelievably wonderful. They are BIG. They are so healthy it's like I just picked them up myself from their greenhouse. Reasonable prices and reasonable shipping, too! No tiny babies! No plugs! Just fabulous! Amazing number of plants and really helpful growing advice. I placed my order last Sunday and received today (Wednesday). They are in Michigan - I'm in western NC. I'll be busy digging up the rest of my yard so I can order more, lol, and will be their customer forever.

Great plants, great customer service. Will order from them again and again, except I think I already have all the Zone 6 plants they sell!

I placed an order on their web site last week and it was partially filled today.

After part of the order was already shipped, I was then notified that the Echinacea 'Meringue' (the primary reason I was placing the order) was not going to be included in the shipment that would be arriving soon. I was asked by Heidi if I wanted a replacement on the Echinacea, but no other option.

With their checkout system, it keeps track (in real time) of what plants are available on their website and how many, so that they don't oversell something that they don't have, which is a great feature. But, when I purchase something and pay for it, it should then be available at ship time, if someone is watching things properly and not relying only on the machines to do this. If it's not available at shipping time, then someone is not prescreening orders and keeping an eye on plants prior to ship day, until they actually go to pull the plants and find that what they had been watering and caring to for the past 6 weeks is not good enough to ship. Not good. But, even still, if a plant is not up to par at ship time, inform the customer and give them the option to continue with the order (or not) before parts of the order start shipping out to me from the nursery. I could then decide whether to go ahead and accept the rest of the order or cancel it, and whether to replace the Echinacea and include something else to arrive with the rest of my order and in the same shipment, (ie, I get all my plants together at one time).

It upset me that Garden Crossings took my money at order time, and then took any options away from me when only part of the order could be filled. They went ahead and shipped a partial order before letting me know that the order I placed would not be complete. Further, when I explained this to Heidi, she told me why the plants were not available (they were too long and lanky and did not have a good root system), but she never offered me anything else besides an explanation?? No refund on the order, no willingness to take the order back, no free replacements, just "This is what we did and this is the way it's going to be"!!! Not right!!

Even a company like Michigan Bulb contacts me when I'm ordering a Buy 3 Get 3 free and part of the order is not available, and I'm not paying them $10 to $18 per plant like I am with Garden Crossings. With plants this pricey, I would have expected the customer service to be a little better.

Since they offered no other solution or option for me after the fact, or a willingness to please the customer, I certainly would not recommend this company and I give them a negative rating. I haven't even seen the plants yet, and I don't care. Whenever prices are this high and customer service is lacking this badly, a disservice is being done. There are much friendlier people and you can do much better for MUCH cheaper at SEVERAL other online nursery's.

One of my favorites is Santa Rosa Gardens, Give them a try. The people are friendly, their plants are Huge, Healthy and they are packaged to perfection. And if the customer feels something is not right, they will bend over backwards to make sure you are happy. A truly wonderful experience all around!

Now that's customer service! Take note you others.

What a wonderful mail order nursery this is! I, too, was concerned about above average prices, but when my plants arrived, I realized the money was well spent. And the packaging is the best. I will buy from this company again.
