Comments regarding Garden Crossings LLC

I ordered about 180 plants from them this year for the first time. Service was perfect, shipping flexible and secure, and plants unbelievably large and beautiful. They are better than the local reputable nurseries. These are not gallon plants, but they are bigger than all of the other gallon plants I bought. I am so happy.

I ordered 6 plants, 2 varieties, in Spring 2007. I received large, healthy plants, that were well packaged for shipment. One thing I love about this company is that they let you select your shipping date. Other companies send plants far too early in the Spring for our weather. By choosing my own date, the plants have a much healthier start in my yard.

Extremely pleased with the plants I received. I ordered 7 echinacea & 2 clematis. All were TRIPLE the size of any other plants from any other mail order company. The packing was the best I have ever seen. They were shipped in large pots with WELL established root system. The plants were completely braced so that even if the box were turned upside down, the plants remained stable. The plants were very healty looking with several stalks per pot. I will most DEFFINATELY order from them again!

I just received my first order from Gardening Crossings.

I ordered 3 Hydrengas and 3 Clemantis.
The plants werer nice size and vigorus. Very healthly.

I was very happy with the order. The packing was excellent also.

I have shopped with Garden Crossings both online (having the plants shipped) and by visiting their retail center in Zeeland, MI. All of my experiences have been excellent. Customer service is friendly and very helpful and caring. They gave us great recommendations on what to plant and how to care for any plants we had questions about. All in all, this is my favorite place to buy plants. They are 2 years old and much bigger and healthier than what you would normally find elsewhere. The shipped plants were packaged with great care and arrived in superb condition. Their retail center is clean, new, airy, bright, and a lovely place to shop. Their prices are reasonable considering the age and health of the plants received. I would rather pay a bit more for a super experience and wonderful plants. Garden Crossings - you get my highest rating. Keep up the great work!

Ordered four Baptisia "Twilight Prairieblue," they arrived in beautiful shape. Plants were at least 16" tall. Very happy would order again.

Ordered two echinacea and they arrived this morning. They are in 5.5 in. pots and are at least 12 inches tall, one has a bud. Probably the best plants I have ordered online.

The only reason I am rating this a neutral and not a negative is the plants that I did receive were very healthy and large plants.

I had ordered the new Green Envy Echinacea along with a few other Echinaceas.. I was sent an email at the time the package was being shipped and added to the email was a note stating the Green Envy was not available and they would not charge my account. The next paragraph said one of the other Echinaceas was on backorder for at least 4 weeks and when it was to be shipped they would then charge my credit card. I got my invoice with my partial order and clearly the plant on back order had been charged to my account. I had emailed them promptly after I received my email stating I did not want to wait 4 weeks on the back ordered plant and to not send it at all, I also asked them if my invoice was correct that they had already charged my card though the plant was not shipped.. I have yet to get a response.. This was a 15.00 plant and would like to know if I am getting my money back.

This was the first time I ordered from this company. Everything, has been great. The plants arrived, all looking strong and healthy. They were all carefully packaged. I am very pleased and glad that I found this website recommending Garden Crossings. I will definitely order from them again. :)

I ordered because of the positive postings I had read, I am so glad that I did! I thought the website was easy to use and ordering was easy, deciding between all the plant choices was the hardest part. I received an email notifying me when my plants shipped & they arrived in a short amount of time in excellent condition, I am sure I will be a return customer. Thanks!!

I ordered a Fransizka Marie Clematis from Garden Crossing and was truly amazed with the plant that I received. Very nice and healthy and big!! I also appreciate that they advise you when they are shipping your plants so that you can be on the lookout. I will definitely order from them again!

I purchased several items last year from Garden Crossings and was pleased with everything. The only possible problem was when I purchased 4 bare root Black Jack Sedums late last year. I was concerned when some of the 4 showed no life. I immediately contacted Garden Crossing and was reassured that they probably had gone dormant but to contact them again in Spring if there was a problem. This month when 3 of the sedums were missing in action I contacted Chad and immediately heard back that they would replace them. And yesterday FedEx delivered 3 of the most beautiful sedums I've seen. Now that's what I call standing behind your product and I really appreciate it. You can't go wrong ordering from Garden Crossings.

Big, really big, no, HUGE well-grown plants in 5.5" pots delivered by FedEx, all in excellent condition, including several clematis, which can be tricky to ship intact. Their website is exceptionally easy to use and informative; a novice gardener may find this a very reassuring site to visit, as more the average amount of cultural information is offered.

Also, a nice site to revisit often....new offerings regularly added. (By this time of the year, the stock of many companies is pretty well depleted, but not so here.) Prices for material of this size are reasonable, unless you live here in the DC area, in which case they are outright bargains. Even if you looked yesterday and thought your wallet was safe, look again today...something likely will call your name. Fair warning!

I placed 2 recent orders for a large number of heucheras and hellebores. Excellent packing and quick delivery via fedex before the weekend. All the plants received were healthy, in large 5" square pots with well-developed root systems and have done beautifully. I will definitely be back.

My first order with Garden Crossings, all I can say is "WOW" these are the best plants I have ever received from a mail order nursery, all were very large, well packed and beautiful. I am impressed and will go back again for more!

Purchased 7 Big Sky echinacea during last fall's sale just before they closed for the season. The plants arrived in less than a week, beautifully packed, and not in those little 2" pots that other mail order companies send, but in BIG 6" pots. I'm already seeing spring growth emerging. These dudes rock!

Garden Crossings has the largest and healthiest plants I've seen for a mail order nursery. Service is outstanding and they are very accomodating if there are any questions. I've been buying there since they opened and have never been disappointed.

I ordered 4 different Echinaceas (2 of which I had never heard of) during their end of season sale. I was really impressed with the size and quality of the plants. They were also shipped when promised, and I got an Email notification when the order was shipped. I can't wait to order from them in the Spring!

I took advantage of the recent sale and got some good deals. I was very impressed by the size of the plants sent me. Out of 10 plants, 9 were clearly ready to be stepped up into 1 or even 1.5 gallon. All of the plants looked healthy, had substantial roots and the packaging was very good. I changed my order a couple of times along the way without a problem-customer service was very helpful.

I ordered two plants on two separate occassions. I ordered a Twilight Coneflower and a Sundown coneflower. I was pleased with the Sundown coneflower. It was a huge plant with huge roots. My twilight, however had obvious bug damage with maybe only four healthy shoots, compared to the 30 + healthy shoots of the sundown. I sent off an email and I was told the plant should do fine next spring. This just occured two weeks ago. The plant is still alive, but it still looks very sickly. Just based on this my review would be a neutral.

It's a positive because I recieved superior customer service from Chad Walters. He worked with me to ship my order a week later after their regular fall shipment schedule. I'm a student and I didn't have the funds to order during the last week of their regular shipping. I ordered one hosta, three peonies, one coneflower and one common thrift. I'm looking forward to planting these so they can return next year in spring. I believe you take the bad with the good and if my twilight coneflower doesn't live I will just be forced to reorder another one, because I am just so impressed by the customer service offered by Garden Crossings.

On Oct 21 2006 I placed an order to take advantage of the discount and the free freight. The plants arrived today in fine shape. But I was charged for freight , so I sent off an e-mail. I received a quick reply and an apology for the error, with a credit being issued. Another VERY SATISFIED customer here. My package was shipped promptly and I was so pleased to see how well each item was packed. The plants were huge and healthy with roots fully filling their 5" pots.

I will definately do business with Garden Crossings again and again.

I thought I would add my positive experience to the list.

Although I agree with an earlier poster, that their prices are a bit on the high side (they had some specials going, but not on the items I was looking for), the quality more than made up for it. The plants were definitely larger than the other mail-orders places I've used, and very well packed, with the soil still moist when they arrived.

I can't wait to plant them - as soon as the rain stops!

Superior plants, terrific customer service -- and thank you for packing with paper and thin plastic nursery pots! I've found a few other great online nurseries, but this one for some reason has the best shipping rates -- very reasonable, so there's no "sticker shock" at checkout.

Since this Co. has a 100% rating, this may be rundant info but I do want to say that, of all the companies I have ordered plants from (and there's a LOT), the plants I received last fall (Frosted Violet huechera and Alabama Jubilee daylilies) were HUGE and extremely healthy. All have thrived, and the Alabama Jubilee daylilies were much more breathtaking than the photo on the website. The Frosted Violet did green out this summer but that's my fault because I have them in too much sun, which I knew before planting, but the spring growth is a beautiful pink/purple irridescent color that just shines, and if planted in shade, would probably stay that way all season. Great prices for great plants!

I am one of lucky people who gets to pick up order. Facility is great-plants healthy, beautiful and well cared for. Employees friendly, helpful and knowledgeable. Clematis I ordered had wonderful root systems and some bloomed this year although was not expecting them to bloom until next year. I had emailed asking about clematis they did not have. When arrived to pick up order they had pulled 4 possible substitutes and printed pictures. Now on my list of nurseries I have to visit at least once a year.

Plants were a little pricy but WELL WORTH it. Large and healthy, fully rootbound. Arrived promptly and were very well packaged. They gave 10% off for volume and I got free shipping (special promotion) so I got an excellent deal. Would highly recommend.

I order pants online and catalogs from all companies that have good deals. It might be my luck, but I have never had such a bad experience as with my order from Garden Crossings.
Tree peonies have been on my wish list for over 2 years. I decided to order 2 tree peonies from Gardens Crossings because of their great reputation on this web site and the good price that they had on bareroot tree peonies.
My shipment arrived on time. It was packaged extremely well, but the two roots looked dead. Since I really wanted to have those plants I e-mailed to the company about the poor condition of the two plants and I panted them hoping that I was wrong about their condition.

well packaged but the two roots, that I found inside do
not look alive.
The Hanakisoi root looks like it was boiled - stored in
inappropriate conditions for too long.

inappropriate conditions.
I really would like to get Tree Peonies, but if all your
stock is in this condition I would like to ask you to
ship me a replacement when you get new stock in good
condition and I am willing to wait until the fall. If you
can not ship replacement with better stock, I would like
to get full credit.

A company representative replied the same day with the following:

I'm sorry to hear your tree peonies arrived in poor
condition. The plants did not look like they way you are
describing them when they were packed. I'm not sure why
they went bad so fast during shipping. We will send you
replacement plants next week - hopefully they will hold up
better this time.

I received the replacement, which was overnighted, about 4 days later. It was again packaged extremely well, but the two roots were in the same condition as the first shipment. I planted them also immediately, hopping that the experts from the company know better than me if the roots they shipped are dead or alive. As of today, about one month and 1/2 later, none of the plants has shown any sign of live. Now it is too late to ask for my money back since the company's policy is that any problem should be reported within a very short period of time after the order is received.
Based on all other customers maybe this company ships great pant stock, I however, would not recommend them to anyone looking for tree peonies.
Even if it was my fault that I tried buying tree peonies in the spring when all experts say that they should be planted in the fall, I think that Garden Crossings should not offer to sell them in inappropriate season and they should check their condition before shipping them.

I've ordered SO much stuff from this company. What is up with them? Their packaging and their plants are the best out there. My latest order included a number of perennials and also 3 clematis (Prince Charles, Barbara Harrington, Regency) . I laughed when I saw the clems - despite their statement that they come in 5" square pots, these are much more mature clematis than the ones you usually get online. Mine went right into the ground. I also pulled from the box 2 big Blanket Flower (Arizona Sun), both of them moist and covered in big blooms. Don't know how the stuff could have been so good since Mr. Fedex had the package on his truck from 7 am to 7 pm all day in the high heat, when it was finally dumped on my porch. Everything perfect and how could this be since there was no shredded newspaper in the box? Love them.

I thought I knew what to expect from mail-order companies: original selections, fast shipping, but spotty availability and small plants. These guys are heaven sent! The plants arrived in great condition and are HUGE!

Good lord, this is probably the best plant order I have EVER received. Even though it's been in the high 90s here in Texas all week, the dozen plants I ordered arrived from GC's Michigan nursery in pristine condition. Most shocking: they are all HUGE! After experiencing Wayside's mid-summer sale, bottom-of-the-barrel crap stock that eventually dies anyway, this is a more than pleasant surprise. On top of everything else, I got free shipping from GC, plus 10% off my order (because it totalled over $150) due to their end-of-season promotion. These guys are now at the top of my mail order list.

The Best! I previously dealt exclusively with Bluestone and Wayside ... now I will add Garden Crossing to my list ... in fact, at the top of my list!

I have ordered from them twice this season and I have been very happy both times. The plants were a nice size, in good condition, nicely packed and quickly shipped. They are a little more expensive than some other online greenhouses, but the extra price is well worth it.

I only ordered one plant....Arundo donax variegata. However, the specimen was HUGE, practically 3 feet high with a very good root system and the packaging was incredible. Would order from GC again, and I recommend this nursery highly!

Had terrific positive experiences with both orders that I put in with these folks (about $200 worth overall). Ultra fast shipment, very nicely packed and healthy strapping plants. Not the cheapest mail order source, but after trying several of the other cheaper guys and having terrible experiences, I think I have to say that even though Garden Crossings is not the cheapest, it is the best value once you consider what you get, how fast you get it, and how well it is packed.

Ordered an "Oranges and Lemons" Guillardia as well as a couple other things a few months ago. Rec'd shipment quickly, although the guillardia didn't look the greatest (the rest of the plants were fine). I planted the guillardia anyway as I thought it would "perk up" in the bed. It didn't; bit the dust instead, but one e-mail to GC and they responded by sending me a beautiful replacement. Great customer service!

I ordered a butterfly bush from Garden Crossings. When the bush finally arrived (a lot longer than I had been lead to believe) it was sickly looking, with one green leaf and two or three brown, yellow, and curled leaves on it. Their packing job was less than desirable as well (dirt was all over the bottom of the box, the plant wasn't in an upright position, etc.) I thought, "This is what I've been waiting for all this time?!" I went ahead and planted the bush, thinking it would make a comeback once it was planted and received some fresh air and water. I contacted Garden Crossings by email two times. It wasn't until I contacted them a third time via Dave's Garden that they responded. After the gentleman from Garden Crossings contacted me, and more or less told me, they would never send a barerooted plant and/or a plant in that condition, I sent him a picture of the bush. Upon receipt of the picture I was given a refund. The bush "gave up the ghost" 5-7 days after it was planted.

I recd in wonderful condition a Sambucus Black Beauty, 2 Deutzia Chardonnay Pearls, and a Niobe clematis. Packaging was suberb and plants arrived moist and bursting with life.
