Lilies: 2009 Blooms #4

Lisbon, IA(Zone 5a)

Ooooh, Stevie, a gazeeeebo!! Go for it! I like gazebos!!

Thanks guys, I can't wait for more lilies to open, but I'll take the ones I have at the moment. :)

I can't wait to see your Space Mountain, Steve. :) Conca, Silk Road and the mystery OT are all lovely! :)

Lisbon, IA(Zone 5a)

And "another" is cool too! :)

Greenwood, IN(Zone 5b)

Thanks Diann :-) Yeah it would be cool to sit in a gazebo amongst all of the trees with some cool flowers right outside. Of course we will need to run electricity all the way down there for a ceiling fan and maybe a light :-)

Not sure what this one just starting to open is with the orange hue....

Stevie, we really need to get you to mark your lilies.. ;) LOL How are we going to know what to order when we're drooling over one of yours? :) hmmmmmmmmm? :)

Greenwood, IN(Zone 5b)

True - I am horrible about it. Some are distinctiveand easy to ID and then others are not.

I was a good boy and did mark my peonies though! LOL

Lisbon, IA(Zone 5a)

Well, you get good marks for that. :) Now, we just have to work on you marking your lilies. :) You have a laser printer at home, correct? Just run some clear Avery lables through it when you get your lilies for the season and have the tags made up and ready to go. Trust me, they way you plant stuff, you'll have more than enough names to fill up a sheet of 30 labels with the first try.

Putnam County, IN(Zone 5b)

lilyfan, next year then for your Polkadot Bikini...I did try to to make sure I sent some mature ones...but they are so small it is hard to tell!

Very nice Bev, Mary. Mary, love that "Mount Duckling" - please post another pic showing the whole thing later when it is at peak bloom!

Great lilies everyone, (it is hard for me to keep up!)

nanny, I think it has more to do with our winter and spring, none of my lilies are living up to what they were last year and to date I've lost close to 30 cultivars. So . . . .I am happy to see stems even if they won't bloom.

(Sue) South Central, IA(Zone 5a)

Moby, I think my Mount Duckling from last year had 24 buds, of course, since I cut it for the show I didn't get to see them bloom :-(

Lincoln, NE(Zone 5b)

I guess that one good thing about my llilies being a little too early for the Iowa show. ;)

Nilwood, IL(Zone 5b)

Can you believe it. This one stalk has 26 blooms and buds. BEV

I got so desperate for blooms I bought one!
'Mount Grace Hybrid' is what the tag says, it's a nice little shorty. ^_^

There are 27. I didn't see that one bloom all crinckled up in the bottom middle.

Nilwood, IL(Zone 5b)

That is a pretty color pixie.

This has been in the ground a couple of years - not really close to lots of other lilies - there is some slight streaking and splotching but only on a couple of petals, so not sure it's virused. Otherwise appars healthy. Could that be caused by the heavy rain/heat and sun cycles we've been having? It has been in mid-nineties every day just about and 5-6" of rain. Steamy and horrible. I am surprised everything is holding up as well as it is.

I am posting "Sweetheart" (OT) again because I am so impressed with it - anyone living in a hot summer climate who likes lilies should look into this. This is in full sun all day and has been open for several days now, and I am seeing no burning whatsoever - in 90-100 degree temps interspersed by heavy rain and high winds. This is a keeper - took this this morning.

Same with Candy Club, here with Persian Market (daylily) - minimal signs of stress.

Pixie, your "Mount Grace" is excellent - love the deep pink coloring on it.

It is certainly refreshing to see a multitude of initial blooms from Iowa, Nebraska, Indiana, and the more northern reaches of Illinois. (and, the continuing presentation from Texas). Moby, I find your Music Art particularily engaging.

South China, ME(Zone 5a)

I just planted 'Baywatch' this spring and I think im going to love it by looking at these pictures!
'Candy Cane' just went on the NEED list. lol

Elgin, IL(Zone 5a)

Buggy's Starburst - I'm anticipating better pics a bit later for this entry, last year it was a knockout...

This is a 'hardy lily' from Michigan Bulb. It was in a pack of mixed colors and this is the first year it has bloomed. I love the color.

jmorth, That Artic Ice is a lovely white and I really like Buggy's Starburst.

Donnna, I'm so bad sometimes but I couldn't help myself. I don't own that one and im a real sucker for dwarf lilies.

Plainwell, MI(Zone 5b)

I ordered some more lily bulbs from Hallsons on the clearance page, I recived two Orange Art, and Two Black Beauty. I have been drooling ove the black beauty for quit some time. Now I have two and they also threw in a bonus bulb!!! Black Spider. Can't wait to see the flowers next summer! Loved all of the photos here I have several almost open. Will post when they are smiling. Ronna
