Wow, glad I didn't check the rating before I ordered from them, or I might not have placed my order. My experience was very positive. The cherry tree I ordered is actually blooming (!) and looks beautiful and healthy, which I certainly didn't expect the first year. The strawberries I ordered are doing very well too. Jung's shipped at the perfect time for our weather, and the tree was very well packaged. I would definitely place an order with them again.

After reading several negative reviews of this company, I was hesitant about placing an order, but years ago I had dealt with this company and had no problems, so I decided to try again. My seeds came promptly, germination was almost 100%, and the second part of my order - the raspberries and onion sets arrived in good time for planting in my area and were well packed. When I called the company to check on the second half of my order, customer service was very polite and helpful and told me that the order was already on its way. All in all, I am very pleased with the quality of the items ordered and would place an order again with them.

I have had a positive experience with Jung Seed in the past. This spring, however, I received a potted Echinacea that died because it had been shipped without securing the soil in the pot. Consequently, the plant and the soil were scattered throughout the packing material. I contacted customer service, reported the problem, and asked the company not only for a replacement but also to be a responsible shipper by securing the pot and the soil in it as other mail order companies do. In addition, I received a rose plant from Jung's that arrived with desiccated buds and stems and subsequently has died. I will contact them about this problem as well.

I ordered 75 strawberry plants and a slew of bulbs from Jung's. The order came in two parts, weeks apart. Nervous that my bulbs were ordered for naught, I contacted customer service and they were very prompt in their response. It turned out the bulbs were already in the mail. It is too soon to know how well the bulbs will grow but my strawberries are growing strong. This is saying a lot as I delayed planting them for 3 weeks and had stuck the roots in my fridge in the interim.

I ordered "hot pepper mix" seeds and had a 90% germination rate. The woodland flower mix and toad lily combos came bare root with some growth on them. They could have chosen a better time to ship rather then in the middle of a frigid cold snap here in ohio but...since I had them shipped to my office nothing was frozen it would have been bad if they had to sit outside my house in 20 below weather. Will get them planted as soon as I can and let people know the growth rates.
All in all pretty postitive I got what I paid for.

I ordered 2 varieties of seeds from Jung's this year online.
Brugmansia, Black Currant Swirl and Datura metel, Evening Fragrance. The seeds arrived with in 7 days. I started them in my greenhouse and am waiting for them to germinate. It takes up to 2 months for the Black Currant and a month for the Evening Fragrance....so I should know soon if they took hold.
I was pleased with the service Jung's gave me online. As I have also been impressed with their gardening centers that I've shopped at.

My family and I have been ordering from Jung Seed Co. for many years. We have always received good, strong nursery stock. When we did have a problem, all we had to do was call within the guaranteed time and we would have our items replaced if still availabe that year, the following spring or receive a credit letter. I would like to say that a few comments below this one, someone stated that "he" would have to pay shipping again when he placed an order with his credit letter. That is incorrect. If you plan on ordering the same thing that the credit letter was issued for it is considered a replacement and you do not pay the shipping charge. If you order something different, you should have to pay shipping because it would not be considered a replacement. This is a good company who strives on making customers happy. I will continue to order from Jungs and their affiliated companies for many years to come! Happy 100!!!

I really do not understand the oppobrium that has been heaped on this company on this website. I have dealt with them for a very long time. They have a good selection of seeds and the germination is always pretty good. (Some of their seeds, mostly in the area of perennials, needs cold treatment before planting; this is explained on the packet and if the instructions aren't followed, then the gardener is the one at fault, not the supplier.) As far as nursery stock, I have gotten some very nice roses and small fruits from them. The one time that I had a failure, they promptly issued a credit.

This is a good, ethical company that supplies quality products

I just have to vent and Warning Beware to any of you whom may order from Jungs!
Given my background of being a professional nurseryman and also doing design work for clients and offering them gardens to view and walk around to see various plants they may want to add to their own gardens and where they can from( companies ect) I was appalled that when I ordered specfic plants from this company and they did not grow during the 06 season, that Jungs would not give me a replacement on them. I also own a nursery and as a nurseryman, did all that I could to get these plants to survive during 06- because sometimes plants die down and then come back. However, these did nothing all season.
So when calling jungs to let them know about what happened, later on i get this letter in the mail( a credit letter) for a whole $ 9.93. And they state they would go in this amount because their guarantee is only : if you recieve them in spring you have till october to call of the year purchased- if you recieve in fall you have until june 1st-...
I never did see any of this small print... maybe because i was so busy at both times of the season.
I find this very poor that they don't allow a 1 year guarantee, I know I don't appreciate a customer coming to me after 5 months and saying...hey, it didn't grow! Without allowing time for the roots to establish! Poor! Poor ! policies i say.
Now, if i had been asking for my money back- different story.
All i wanted was replacements. period!
Now i'm out my money, my plants and if i do order again i have to pay shipping all over again.
I did call jungs and all they kept saying...that is our policy.
SO BEWARE...THIS IS THEIR POLICY FOLKS-

This last spring was the first time we have ordered plants as well as seed from Jung's. The Nanking cherry bushes were very impressive with good roots and tops. The Hansa and Frau Dagmar Hartopp roses were also in good shape, although we did worry about the latter one for awhile. Eventually it did leaf out and bloomed off and on all summer in spite of drought conditions. In 2007 we are looking forward to adding more roses and other bushes from them.

I just received 42 daffodil bulbs from Jung. I couldn't imagine why the box was so heavy -- that is, until I opened it and saw the bulbs. They were nearly the size of amaryllis bulbs, and very fresh -- many of them doubles. I've never seen such large and healthy daffodil bulbs! I always receive an immediate reply to my emails to Jung.

A couple of years back one of the rhubarbs that I ordered rotted in the ground. They replaced it immediately. The replacement rhubarb has grown beautifully for the last 2 seasons.

I have always found the staff at Jung to be very friendly -- and above all, very honest in their dealings with their customers. In my opinion Jung Seed belongs in the Top 30. I'll gladly order from them again!

Unfortunately I need to retract a comment I posted nearly a year ago. Jung Seed DOES NOT belong in the
Top 30! While I had previously found this company to be very reliable and responsive I no longer find that to be the case. On July 27 I ordered 25 strawberry plants and an oriental poppy. After a few weeks of not receiving my order I followed up by email. After a couple of days I received an email asking for my address as they had no record of the order (even though my credit card had been promptly charged). I provided the information, and without any acknowledgement from Jung, the strawberries were delivered a few days later. The poppy was on backorder. (This was mid-August.) I then had to followup on the poppy this week, as it's getting rather late to be planting bareroot perennials. I received no response to my email but the oriental poppy mysteriously appeared in my mailbox yesterday! (They probably had forgotten to ship it!) The quality of the strawberry plants was excellent. The oriental poppy root, while smallish, does have a sprout. I'll take this as a wake-up call and refrain from placing future orders with Jung. Although I'm one of the lucky ones to have received some good quality plant stock from Jung, they just don't seem to be as reliable anymore. I can no longer take such a risk.

They informed me that they were all out of stock when I complained, they refunded my money. This year I placed my order in January and when my order came in May they were out of stock of the Honeyberries that I ordered. I enquired and found that because I had a late shipping date because of my Northern climate they ran out of stock. I complained at their on-line site and received a phone call the next day that they had got more Honeyberries from another supplier and that my order would be filled. 10 days later half my order came and when I called again they told me they got the amount wrong and were now out of stock again. I called another supplier and was able to still order through them.

I've placed two orders with Jung Seed in the past six months, one for seeds only and one for seeds and plants (2 thornless blackberries and a batch of 25 Ozark beauty strawberries). My seed orders always arrived promptly, and my live plants were shipped at the appropriate time for my zone (9).

I've had very good germination rates with the seeds from this company--flowers and vegetables--and was pleased with the bonus seed packs they included with my order.

The Chester and Triple Crown blackberries arrived in bareroot condition, but one of them was already starting to show new leaf growth by the time I put them into water to soak overnight. They were a bit smaller than I expected--single canes that were under 12" not counting their roots--but both plants are now thriving and threatening to take over my garden with no special coddling or care from me besides regular watering.

Only 11 of the 25 strawberries made it, but this was my fault. I didn't realize that the brown paper packaging around what I thought were the rootballs of my blackberries actually contained my order of strawberries, so the poor things didn't get put into the refrigerator for three days. By the time I had a chance to plant them, quite a few had gone moldy. The surviving plants are very healthy and, like the blackberries, are spreading like crazy via runners. I've already gotten berries from several of the plants.

I definitely wouldn't hesitate to purchase from the company again, though I'll be sure to check all mysterious brown paper packing materials for hidden plants in the future!

I am a regular Johnnys customer and the same day I planted Jungs and Johnnys sunflower seeds....same soil...same conditions....rows were next to each other. As normal Johnnys seed always comes through...Jungs right next door, slim to none.

As for the onions we have not seen any. I thought maybe the low germination on the sunflowers were a fluke, but I'm not thinking that way anymore after seeing no germination on the onions.

From now on, I remain true to Johnnys even if I am in a pinch and have to pay shipping and allow more time....because at least I know it WILL germinate.
