Gaussia Species, Llume Palm

As a young palm this species is quite interesting with a large, bottle-shaped trunk (looks a lot like a Bottle Palm then), but as it grows its trunk gets thinner and thinner, to the point that you would be sure it would break off. From the drier areas of Puerto Rico where it is highly endangered. Very slow palm. Hopeless in zone 9b where I tried it several times, but some have had success in warmer zone 10as in southern California.
