Melons
Melons are members of the Cucurbitaceae family of edible fruits. Originally from Africa and southwest Asia, melons traveled along with the first humans, who prized them for their delicious taste and abundant fruits. Seeds from melons have been found among Bronze-Age digs in Europe, dating back as far as 1,500 B.C. Even among the New World natives, melons were a staple crop, although different species were grown. Melons can be grown in almost any temperature region in full sun, as long as the appropriate species are selected for the climate.
