Kelp Gull, Southern Black-backed Gull, Dominican Gull

The Dominican Gull lives for at least 28 years. It adapts its diet to its enviroment. On water it gets algae, and plunge-dives for echinoderms, molluscs and surface fish. It breaks the mollusc shells by dropping them from a height. It eats plants and grasses, small reptiles and mammals, crustaceans, insects, and worms, and even young birds and eggs. Offal and carrion are on the menu, and it scavengers in coastal towns and cities. What it can not digest it regurgitates as rounded pellets. It inhabits farmland, inlets, esturies, rocky and sandy seashores, wide shallow rivers, lakes and mountain tarns.
