I also grow it near the drive where it receives full sun and left to propagate itself at will. One of the best Nepeta I have except for its plentiful reseeding.

Has self-sown a bit but not a problem seeder at all; original clumps are quite compact; probably could use dividing every few years but so far happy to be left alone. The few babies are easily moved/removed.
Tough plant; drought tolerant; very winter hardy (at least Zone 4); mine get about 3 feet tall and flop a bit by late summer but staking definitely optional; might overshadow low/delicate neighbors so take that into consideration.
Very reliable. Foliage attractively purple-flushed in spring. Starts blooming in June until hard frost (October-ish here).
Would make a nice specimen plant in dry garden or mid- to back-of-border companion in traditional herbaceous border layout.
Added October 22, 2015: Still have this here and there in the garden. It just ticks along year to year, showing up in new spots occasionally but never a pest. (Easy to remove.) Just chopped them all down for the winter, and I felt kind of bad as they were still full of bloom. In the past few years I have taken to cropping these off to about 6 to 12 inches in June, they quickly recover and makes lots of bushy new growth. Takes care of much of the "sprawling" issue.
