The color held beautifully. It has very good heavy substance also.
If you are looking for a dark daylily I would highly recommend Sir Modred.

Boy was i surprised! They look like they could eat the Happy Returns for lunch. (Not exactly a subtle addition!) They are MUCH larger than the HR - i'd guess the scapes were 22" - 28" - and dark burgundy with bright gold yellow inside.
They are extraordinarily striking flowers - beautiful!
Black red self with greenish chartreuse throat.
One of my best darks,second only to black pearl,very high bud count at 21 per scape,holds up well in hot sun.
These blooms hold their color precisely throughout the 100 degree Texas heat.
