The flowers are self-cleaning, falling off after a few days and are then replaced in succession. The foliage is glossy and attractive, looking great even in the hottest days of summer. It's apparently tolerant of wet soil but I can only say it seems fine in average soil. I bought it to attract hummingbirds. In our area, you need a succession of flowers from spring into summer to keep the hummingbirds from moving on in search of better food sources.
