The main clump is in deciduous tree shade, but others are in deep or partial shade. The main clump gets watered once a month in summer and none in winter. Winter protection is limited to a light cover of fallen tree leaves, and it has weathered sub-freezing nights of up to 22 days (2013) and down to 24F, without damage.

It's a great addition to the foliage color pallet. It does well indoors in a pot, and stays fairly tame. Mine is offsetting slowly but surely.
