Spiraea, Japanese Meadowsweet, Japanese Spirea, Maybush 'Neon Flash'

I sold some at a nursery in West Chester, PA, over a few years in the early 2000's. It was a new cultivar for me. It is very similar to A...Read Morenthony Waterer and Froebel. It is a little more compact with rich red-pink flower clusters. New growth is reddish in spring and the foliage is dark green. It was introduced into the US trade by Brookside Gardens in Wheaton, Maryland from Japan. It is an easy, reliable, inexpensive plant like most all the Japanese and Bumald Spireas.

The flower clusters started out small, but this year they've really spread!

It survived a very soggy bed after an extremely wet spring this year that killed some of my other plants.

The flower color is a gorgeous, almost fluorescent...a Hot Deep Pink.

I was shown at a nursery how Spirea can be sheared back... and shaped if you want...over and over, which may even promote reblooming.
