It is typically growing in loose sandy soils in openings in thorn shrublands or mesquite woodlands. The prostrate stems form loose mats that are 3 to 5 inches wide. Its narrowly spatulate, opposite leaves are usually less than 1 1/2 inches long. Appearing on short stalks from lthe leaf axils, the bright white, 4-lobed flowers are about 3/8 of an inch wide. Due to its small size, it is often not noticed.
