Th...Read Moree colour is very difficult to describe, and photos don´t do it justice but there are only a handful of plants worldwide that share this positively unworldly colouration. It is rare and threatened in the wild in South Africa but has fortunately taken very well to cultivation. One of my plants flowered in its first year from seed, although two years is more usual. Grow in a cool, bright, frost free location in pots of well drained compost, planting the bulbs 4 centimetres deep in pots, in early Autumn. Do not provide too much heat as they will not thank you for this. Store bulbs dry during the summer months. Hand-pollinate the long-lasting flowers and sow the seed on the surface of open compost in the autumn.
