I added this to my (then new) succulent garden in Spring '08. It was a tiny young plant which immediately proceeded to... take over! (B...Read Moreut not violently, nothing was hurt, all was good. The only problem was that it got near grass I would rather not have, because it grew so much faster than expected, and now I'm stuck 'weeding' grass out of it.)
The patch is about 20"x28" this year (the 20" side hit a rock wall) and I have already planted 3 minimally layered cuttings elsewhere in the yard. They're all growing nicely, too, and 2 out of 3 of them are flowering. The other one isn't getting enough sun, so it looks bloated and flowerless (but otherwise healthy, I'll just keep an eye on it for now).
I didn't notice any problems during any season, barring the iceplant usuals (eg they are very fragile in the Winter because their super-succulent leaves turn into stiff little ice blocks). Its nicest season was late Spring, when it first started flowering. The entire plant was a big wash of flowers and getting a lot of compliments. It's still flowering, but the flowers are moreso "here and there" now. I wish I'd noticed the lack of a picture here during peak flower season.
I would say the flower colour is a lot more bright orange than red, but that could be the Colorado high altitude sun (many "red" flowers are orange here, at least in my experience).
