I am not sure if it was supposed to do that or not but production was a little above average. The tomatoes were pretty much all standard 2 inches in diameter and were acceptable in taste. I mean I would compare taste to better boy, but it is no brandywine, merrianna's peace, cherokee purple, black krim, etc. I did not have problems with cracking with this tomato and that says a lot because my soil is loamy sand which does not hold water well. As advertised, I also did not have problems with disease with this tomato. To be fair, I did not grow rowdy red in the best spot in my garden so I may have had better results if it were in a more sunny location.
