Beautiful large tropical looking glossy leaves
Ripens m...Read Moreid-late fall here with many ornamental bright orange apple size fruit that taste kind of like sweet pumpkin. After orange can be eaten crisp (sweet almost pumpkin pie filling-like) or allowed to soften depending on taste. I personally prefer them crisp.
Note some types of persimmons are astringent until very ripe (American persimmons and some other Asians) but not this variety.
Can be used in breads, cookies, or hot puddings when fully ripe.
Has set reliably after the first 4-5 years. Absolutely pest and disease free without spraying here. I wonderful easy care piece of edible landscaping. Fruit can be picked over a long period easing need to store
Can be obtained from Edible Landscaping, Raintree Nursery and many others
I pruned it to open center (vase sahpe) to increase light, in warmer areas this might be pruned to a central leader.
