About five years ago, we had a pair of short-eared owls arrive at our farm in the Driftless Area of Wisconsin... they arrived in Spring and stayed the whole summer! They were magnificent to watch, but they regularly circled our house throughout the night, screeching and calling as they hunted! It was a sleepless summer, but also a joy to observe such beautiful birds up close!
