Little Leaf Notcher Weevil, Sri Lanka Leaf Weevil

I live in the Melbourne, Fl area, near the coast. I found these weevils eating my Jamaican Hibiscus. I sprayed it with Cyonara, my go to spray from my local nursery. It took 2 treatments a couple weeks apart before I noticed real improvement. I found one alive to take to the nursery to see if they were familiar. They new it right away and said to also spray the ground because that’s where their larva grow. It’s why it’s so hard to kill. I hope this helps.

I just discovered these white Little Leaf Notcher Weevils throughout the base area of my African Blue Basil plants that are in my butterfly garden. They are white with various black or blackish-gray markings. I spent the past few hours searching online to find out what this bug is called. I thought perhaps it was some sort of Stink Bug, but after much review, I see that I am dealing with these Weevils. I live in Orlando and began growing my butterfly garden about 4-5 months ago. I had previously sprayed Neem Oil on the African Blue Basil plants, hoping to kill whatever has turned all the leaves into more than a Swiss Cheese appearance, with holes all over each leaf. My honeybees love the African Blue Basil and I do not want these large and gorgeous purple-colored additions to my garden ruined. I also found small Armyworms/caterpillars on the leaves...or perhaps, they are Fall Webworms, not sure yet which one I am dealing with. Anyway, I resorted to using Ferti-Lome Triple Action insecticide/fungicide onto the leaves yesterday, mostly paying attention to the lower branches and deep within the base and root of the plants, as this is where the weevils seem to be hiding. I am concerned, based on the two previous comments below mine, that perhaps even this may not be enough to solve this problem. :(

These things are PURE EVIL! I have tried EVERYTHING to get rid of them! No matter what I do, there they are! I even got Bayer all-in-one rose care that is supposed to kill once they take a bite... RIIIIGHT! My Double Delight Hybrid Tea looks like a shaved poodle!!

They chomp on pretty much everything in my garden, roses, basil, bell peppers... but, they seem to leave my tomatoes alone. Go figure. I read in the Florida Citrus Pest Management Guide that they are "flightless". I call BALONEY on that one! I have SEEN them fly!

I have been reduced to picking them off by hand an squishing them. You can usually see me out at night with a flashlight; picking them off, checking under leaves, shaking my plants till they fall off... this is ridiculous!!
