Reminds me of Coral Sunrise an asiatic.
2009 Blooms Yeah!
That's what I thought ~ checked out both Coral Sunrise and Coral Sunset and there was just too much variation between them to decide.
I know what you mean Moby.
I've gotten the wrong bulbs from reputable dealers, so it doesn't surprise me when they are wrong from the mass vendors.
Woohooo, I've some orange lilies blooming today. I'm too tired now, will post pix tomorrow.:-)
The pictures are wonderful. Please keep them coming!
Donna
Wonderful pictures. Very nice!
Congrats on your first lily blooms, bamagirl :-) Those are very pretty.
Awesome "Honeymoon", Nery. Isn't that an OT?
I have this pretty little Asiatic - there are three blooms open and all three seem to have gone towards a slightly "double" form. Tag says "Grand Cru" but the coloring in the centers of these is much lighter and GC is a single-flowered form. Got this at another end-of-season Brent and Becky sale last year, so not sure what's going on here! :-) Still look nice however. ^_^
Probably shouldn't have planted in my mostly-shady hosta bed but this area does get sun through part of April and a little in the mornings. Does not seem to have impeded their ability to flower.
Love all the blooms, keeping coming!!
Mags are you counting zones like I am??
Voss, z9, aggie z8, steve z7, ....come on z6!!!
Def. not "Grand Cru" but what a lovely little double it is!!!!!
Maybe 3-6 inches tall....long way to go yet Steve! lol
San Souci is months and months away...one of my best bloomers last year.
steve, yes, Honeymoon is an OT which I got from Lisa aka buggycrazy. In going thru my records it seems I only got 1 of these. what was I thinking! Need lots more, lol
steve, did you intentionally plant lilies that distance or have they multipled? I like them that close yet I see planting instructions say plant 12" apart (6" if minis).
curious that our GrandCru doesn't have the red center.
Nery,
I almost always plant bulbs of any kind closer than the instructions say, since I like a dense look, though they also have gotten much larger and have shown multiplication as well. Usually I will dig, say, a 10" or 12" hold and plant bulbs in clusters so that they're a couple of inches apart. There is no "wrong" way - I just may have to divide them earlier than if I'd planted farther apart.
I think as others have pointed out, those were mislabeled and not really are "Crand Cru". Fortunately I have another batch planted in another bed (GC also) from White Flower Farm so hopefully they'll be the real thing!
^_^
Yes, pixie, I am counting the zones! We are getting closer, but until then, we have are southerly friends to intrigue us and get us ready for lily season.
And pixie, I was just strolling through the garden, looking at peony 'Athena' and 'Angelique', both that you made me buy. Lol. Oh yes, and I should add 'Lavender Gem' to that list too.
Pixie's treasures.
Your lilies look great you guys ;) no matter who they are. Enjoy them, I know I do.
Steve, do you have a camera team set up while you are away (I'll miss your lilies, if you don't)? How about the guard dogs? Lol. Ticker says she'll be in the neighborhood, so at least put the viscious guard dog sign up on your front door. Maybe that will keep her out of your peonies. Definitely DO NOT leave your shovel out or any other garden tool. In fact, I'd keep all eating utensils locked up too ;) Lol.
Mags!!! Quit putting him on the defensive!! :) LOL I'm going south, just not quite that far. LOL
I can take blame for 'Angelique' and 'Lavender Gem' but not the peony. I only have one at the moment and the one I lust after is a yellow one and its pricey at $50. However I did go and look up 'Athena' and now it's on my wish list too!
In case anyone else likes Peonies.....^_^

Tracey, guard dogs are ready. All seven pounds each. Oh, there's Roscoe also, if he can see someone coming. Or hear anyone. LOL I can always interrogate her in Galena ^-^
pixie, thanks for another cool peony-enabling website. They only have one review in GW and it was a good one - how are their plnats from your experience? Looks like they are a grower and not just a broker. I noticed some cool stuff on their website and a few things not on the ones I usually look at.
Ah Pixie, a little enabler after my own heart! :) Yeah, have you ordered from them in the past? :) They do have some interesting stuff..
Steve, Do your puppies like hamburgers? :) LOL
No have not ordered from them...I just put my bib on and go there to drool. ^_^

Steve,
your Grand Cru (not) looks just like one I ordered as Butter Pixie from the same source years ago, it allways tried to double for me also. Deer and way too much rain has really cost me a lot of my lilies, that one included.
Hmmmm, wonder who to blame the peony on then? Lol. Probably Steve, that's a safe bet ^_^
Nice peony website there. Pixie, your peony isn't 'Bartzella' is it? The one your after? It's a beauty in the garden.
It is indeed 'Bartzella' I have a 'thing' for yellow rose's and it reminds me of a very big one. ^_^
It's lovely!!! Now WHO'S enabling??????//
I just love all these yellow lilies! It sure brightens up the dreary days we've been having!
Hey Pixie, I owe you at least one now, don't I?
My lilies are far from blooming, but the peonies will keep me happy until the time comes as well as the southern blooms.
Love your peony, mags. I'm playing hooky from work next week to visit Schreiners irises and Adelmans Peony Gardens. Then on June 6 a volkswalk starting at Adelmans and passing through their fields and on to Mid-America iris garden and Sebright gardens (hostas, Japanese irises and few special select perennials). Still trying to figure out how I can buy a couple gallon containers of JIs and finish the walk carrying them ;-) Also along the walk: filbert orchards, rhododendron fields and whatever else is in view of the trail including a great view of Mt. Hood, weather permitting. This area is really the cornucopia of ornamental agriculture in the valley!
Tracey, I will enable others as others have enabled me ^_^
And Diann, yes you can bribe them with hamburgers. Or potato chips. Or cheese. Or anything else.
Bartzella is a keeper as the others have stated, pixie - you will LOVE it. I planted one for the first time last fall and got two blooms this spring :-) It's kind oflike a brighter, fragrant "High Noon" in a bush form.
Thanks Ilily on the suggestion - it is kind of pretty and definitely a double which I didn't order. Never thought much about or cared for double lilies but it's prettier than I would have expected. I did order "Luxor" at the same time which it actually resembles some but again the double form and less dramatic interior has me confused, so maybe "Butter Pixie" is it. It has not been hot here and that bed is actually kind of shady so I would think the coloring would be more intense if it were Luxor.
Pard, Adelman and Schreiner's both in your back yard, and Buggy not too far away - that must be heaven!!!
Goldfinch, here are some more yellow lilies for you. These are "London" - planted 50 of them (John Scheepers) in my front garden in fall '07. I had some hard freezes which burned the tops and so not many flowers in 2008. They have just exploded this year. This is only a small area of them with Algarve and Dazzle as well as a few others mixed in. Only "London" so far is in bloom among the Asiatics.

Oh, Steve, you are definitely the yellow dude. London is stunning, especially massed. Isn't it great when a disappointment in bloom is followed the next year with abundance? Such a wonderful surprise.
Donna
Steve~
That planting is truly stunning!! I hope we get to see a pic when that area is in peak bloom! I have never massed that many of one variety, but this pic makes me want to try it when I find that special lily that inspires me to give it a go, it is striking! Does John Scheepers have good deals on quantities like that every Fall?
Beautiful!!
Jamie
I just love the yellow so bright in a way they dont even look real wow
Great photos Andrew, Steve and others.
Nery, that Red Dutch with Home Run certainly is a home run! More like a grand slam!
I planted six trumpet lillies last year and they are finally coming up and now I have three for every one yes I was worried that I had lost them since we had such a brutal winter
