Laurel, MD(Zone 7a)

Ok on the Sweet Annie.

Glen Burnie, MD(Zone 7a)

I would love some lemon balm!!!

Chevy Chase, MD(Zone 7a)

Oh Sherry -- can I have a tiny honeysuckle cutting too? That sounds like a fabulous plant. Many many thanks!

Chantell: No, lemon verbena and lemon balm are different. The first is Melissa officinalis, http://davesgarden.com/guides/pf/go/292/. It is very agressive, like a mint.

Lemon verbena is Aloysia triphylla, http://davesgarden.com/guides/pf/go/279/. It isn't hardy here, according to PlantFiles.

Wyldflwr: Would you bring me a sprig of Sweet Annie? I never heard of that before. I'd love to try it. Only if it is easy -- I think I've already taken about every plant in your yard!

Chevy Chase, MD(Zone 7a)

I've been ripping out the lemon balm and tossing it like mad! Ouch! I'll rush out and root some -- it is easy to root. I'll have lots.

Glen Burnie, MD(Zone 7a)

does lemon balm have pricklies on it??

Laurel, MD(Zone 7a)

happy, you've got me really concerned now. I only had written down the green lysimachia nummularia and the jewel weed. Now Sweet Annie. What else did you want from me? I didn't remember seeing anything else that you wanted. Please let me know. I have lots of stuff!

Chevy Chase, MD(Zone 7a)

Lemon balm does not have prickles -- it is just like mint. I just potted up 7 pots of it, so I'm good to go.

Wyldeflwr: You forgot the Quince you already gave me! But I'd also like to add (if you don't mind) the Bear's Foot or Stinking Hellebore babies, if you have room.

Laurel, MD(Zone 7a)

Believe me, that's hardly taking every plant in my yard! I am really delighted to be able to share with others of "like mind". Before I began participating on the discussion groups, I wondered sometimes if I was the only obsessive gardener in the world. It's nice to see there are lots of folks just as bad as I am when it comes to gardening.

Frederick, MD(Zone 6b)

We're not bad -- we're GOOD! ;-)

Nutmeg, I've got room (I'll make room) for some DLs and your honeysuckle cuttings. I've got Friday to pot things and pack them, and I can use boxes if I need to stack more than one layer, although I'm hoping to not get quite that carried away. Hah!

I know I won't end up listing everything ahead of time... mostly just trying to mention stuff I've got a lot of, because I don't want to pot up more than a couple if there isn't much interest in them.

Noobie, I'll be bringing Kentucky Colonel spearmint and Chocolate Peppermint, but I recently divided my other mints, and I'm not sure they've grown back enough to divide again... but I can bring cuttings (mint roots easily in water). Are you a "label everything" gardener, or can I just clip you a mixed bouquet? (I'm a labeler, so I do understand how that works... but if you're not, I'd rather not take the time to mark and pack separate varieties.) I've also got a few pots of English creeping thyme and Greek Oregano (I think it's probably 'Hot & Spicy' judging by the flavor) ready to go and will try to get a few more creeping thymes potted next Friday. I'll be out of town most of this coming week, so my time for filling requests is pretty limited -- but I'll try!

Crozet, VA

Wow, I just read through pretty much every one of these posts at one setting. I hadn't kept up with it because I wasn't sure if I would be attending the swap or not. Unless something comes up, it looks as though John and I will be coming on Saturday. So.......I tired to make notes of all the goodies that are being offered. You all have such a wonderful assortment of things. I didn't have any trouble at all finding things that I would like to have. I guess that I will try a little tact and post my HAVES first though. ha-ha

I have to share:

Castor Bean Seedlings
Rose Campion
Artemesia
Black/Purple Columbine
Coleus Seedlings
Sedum Autumn Joy

I will walk through the gardens tomorrow and see if there is anything else that I have enough of to share.

My wants are a longer list. WANTS:

Sweet Woodruff - Dragonfly? do you still have plenty?

Purple CLustered Bell Flowers - Hart, do you have more?

Bleeding Heart - Dragonfly, do you have more?

A long list from Happy McComb is she has things still - Would like to have Carex Grayii, Wood Poppy, Ficus Benjamani - do you have these available?

Someone mentioned a blue and white Columbine - or any Columbine other than the Purple/Black ones. This might have been Critter who had this.

Gita, I would foret you, now would I? I would like some of the Daisy's or a Daisy and if you still have tomatoes.

Critter, will take some of your tomatoes if you still have them.

I guess that is it for now. I will post more tomorrow if I find other things that I can bring along.

I am looking forward to meeting the new people and seeing those that I met last year. It will be loads of fun!!!

Ruby

Chevy Chase, MD(Zone 7a)

Ruby: I will have Carex Grayii, Wood Poppy, Ficus Benjamani and a little bit of Sweet Woodruff for you.

Ellicott City, MD(Zone 7a)

I'll be amending my list as I pot up my winter sown plants this week.

HAVES:

Lychnis (either white or fuschia colored-not sure)
Hosta, "Rusty Bee" (not winter sown)
Heirloom Tomatoes: (winter sown and ready to put in your garden-still small but they'll grow fast!)
"Aunt Gerdie's Gold" - several
"German Red Strawberry" (2)
"Marianna's Peace" (2)
Balsam, "Blackberry"
I'll be adding more, so stay tuned!

Baltimore, MD(Zone 7a)

Ruby,

I do not have any more of the Heirloom Tomatoes, but I have many, many volunteer red cherry ones coming up from all the ones that fell last year. I am 90% sure they are the red cherry ones....There will be plenty to have of these....

By Daisies, you mean the Shasta Daisies?

Gita

Shenandoah Valley, VA

Shirley, could I get a German Red Strawberry and Marianna's Peace? I'll be begging all the heirloom tomatoes I can. So much going on here I never got my seeds planted and the plants are so hard to find around here.

Frederick, MD(Zone 6b)

I'll bring some extra tomatoes... will try to post a list of varieties, or will just bring a dozen assorted. I looked at the columbine babies today and decided to wait until the end of the week to pot them up... I did dig up a few bigger ones, will need to figure out this week if they've been spoken for (offered to my SIL).

Ellicott City, MD(Zone 7a)

hart: I'll put you down for a "German Red Strawberry" & "Marianna's Peace" tomatoes.

Please save me a Tall phlox "Robert Poore" - Phlox paniculata.

Thanks!

Frederick, MD(Zone 6b)

Oh -- realized I didn't mention it, but my tomatoes are all OP or heirloom, too. ;-)

Shenandoah Valley, VA

Critter, the ones you gave me last year did very well. Be happy to mooch some more if you have any to spare.

I'm sure I can get several pieces out of this clump of phlox for Shirley and the rest who have said they want some.

I'm going to add some more to my list, hopefully in the next day or two. I just found out this evening my aunt died so this week is a bit blurry right now. And sad.

Chevy Chase, MD(Zone 7a)

Hart: I'm so sad to hear about your aunt. Don't worry about plants!

Frederick, MD(Zone 6b)

(((Hart))) My condolences. Happy is right, you've got more to worry about right now than how to divide up your phlox... if I don't get some this year from you, I'll get some another time!

Shenandoah Valley, VA

Sorry, wasn't trying to hijack this thread. I just meant I don't know yet what day the funeral will be. I'm not busy with arrangements or anything like that and I doubt if I'll go home for visitation unless Mom needs help.

My aunt was 90 and had been doing poorly for the last month or so. I'm just sad I didn't get a chance to see her. I was planning to go up for the day to visit this week or next.

MD &, VA(Zone 7b)

I think I've got pretty much all requests dug/potted already except for wyldeflwrs. I'll work on that this week.

I'll also be bringing an assortment of items I've listed that weren't requested if anybody decides they need them. Most plants will be small starts in 4" pots or so to save on space.

Oohh, Sally I would love some creeping phlox. Mom loves the stuff and has been wanting some since she moved here and left hers behind.

Glen Burnie, MD(Zone 7a)

Critter...you don't have to worry about labels. You can just tell me what they are when you see me and I will try to remember.

Hart....sorry to hear about your aunt. My heart goes out to you.

Frederick, MD(Zone 6b)

OK... that means you're a "labeler" too... I'll do my best! Some of the mints are easy to tell apart, others less so. I'll be doing a lot of cutting/bagging on Friday, but I think I've got a lot of potting done already on stuff I'm bringing (which is good, since that means it'll have a chance to settle in).

Happy, you wouldn't believe how well the strawberries (with the fancy French name) you shared with me are doing! They're even setting fruit, and I just put a trio of plants from last year's runners into the window box planter I got as a door prize in Feb... 3 berries are nearly ripe! I had a little accident with my WS container of alpine strawberries, but I might be able to find a couple of extra plants from last year's seedlings if anybody has been *really* dying to try these.

Chevy Chase, MD(Zone 7a)

Critter -- LOL re "little accident." I'm delighted the Mara des Bois are doing ok. Mine are looking very healthy, but with my part-shade (not to mention chipmunks and birds), there's not a lot of fruiting.

Crozet, VA

Alright Happy, thank you so much for agreeing to bring the goodies to me.

Gita, no problem about heirloom tomatoes, a couple of the volunteer cherries will do. Critter, I might get a couple of your too, if you still have more. I suppose that I mean the Shasta Daisies, what were you offering? I was making notes on paper to make my post and just wrote down Daisies beside your name, not the whole name of what all you have. I am not picky, what ever you have plenty of will do.

So far no one has said they wanted any of what I have to bring. I will bring some of each anyway and hopefully be able to find a good home for it that day.

So, I feel caught up on this thread. I now need to go and look at food forum. Thank you so much Bec for offering to host this. We will have so much fun.

Ruby

Middle of, VA(Zone 7a)

Ahhh Diane - hugs!! I'm sorry...so hard, isn't it? Please let us know if there's anything we can do, ok?

Sally - re "creeping phlox" - missed that you had that. IF you have any spares - just keep me in mind please. Not a need...but if you have enuf...ok?

Ruby - raising hand for some of your Black/Purple Columbine - please and thank you.

Speaking of strawberries (warning duh question coming) are the little wild ones ok for consumption? My back yard gets covered with them...I actually weed wack them down....

Chevy Chase, MD(Zone 7a)

Chantell: I've never heard it is unsafe to eat the wild strawberries that grow in lawns, but I believe they have zero flavor (unlike alpine or cultivated "wild" strawberries, which have more flavor that the regular ones).

Chevy Chase, MD(Zone 7a)

Ruby, yes, I'd love some of your Black/Purple Columbine and Rose Campion. How do you keep Artemesia going? It always dies for me!

Shenandoah Valley, VA

Thanks everyone for your kind thoughts.

I just realized I had skipped a bunch of new posts last night. Joya, I'll be sure to get your rose cuttings to Jody. Ruby, I'll bring plenty of the clustered bellflowers for all who want some. I have a whole bed full of the golden moneywort/creeping jenny if anyone wants any.

Gita, could I get some of your daisies if you have plenty?

Middle of, VA(Zone 7a)

Thanks happy (re strawberries) - maybe I should move some of them to the bird/butterfly area...they might like em....hmmm.....
BTW I'll add this to my HAVE list - if anyone would like cuttings from my Sweet Autumn Clematis i.e. the vines that's consuming Chantell's fence...LOL...let me know.

Strasburg, VA(Zone 6b)

ruby, i'd love some castor bean seedlings and rose campion if you have enough available :-)

Laurel, MD(Zone 7a)

rubyw, I would really like some of the columbine you mentioned and two or three castor bean seedlings. I can bring you some sweet woodruff. My castor bean seeds have never germinated.

hart, since you said you had plenty, I would like some of the bellflower please

Gita, do you have enough of your daisies to bring some to me?

Shenandoah Valley, VA

Please don't anyone hold back because you don't think I have enough of anything on my list. Most of it I have oodles of. I'm surprised no one has asked for the hungarian speedwell - veronica crater lake blue. If any of you have The Well Tended Perennial Garden she writes about this particular variety in that book. It's the most gorgeous blue. It's blooming now and I'll try to get a photo if I get time.

Frederick, MD(Zone 6b)

Real wild strawberries are delicious. But the ones most of us have runnering all over parts of our lawn and garden are "false strawberry," http://davesgarden.com/guides/pf/go/2265/. Not so nice.

Strasburg, VA(Zone 6b)

oooh, love the speedwell!

Frederick, MD(Zone 6b)

Hart, I've got a little patch of Veronica teucrim, but I don't think I've got that variety... I'd love to try a clump if you're digging it! Thanks!

Shenandoah Valley, VA

I meant to ask too, someone last year gave me a seedling of standing cypress. Jello in her puppyhood broke it. I tried to baby it all summer but it never came back this year. Does anyone have any of that or seeds? I know that would do so well here and I love that blazing red color.

Lynda, you got speedwell.

Chevy Chase, MD(Zone 7a)

Hart: I'd love some hungarian speedwell - veronica crater lake blue too! Do you think I'll kill it?
