Best/Worse/What did I Learn Today? Come sit awhile and share your day..newcomers welcome

(Pat) Kennewick, WA(Zone 5b)

Betty, when you don't have someone to help, I understand just "doing it" cuz it needed to be done. Then we pay for it with the pain. I truly do know I am blessed to have people I can hire. Even then, sometimes I can't just wait, its something that needs doing NOW.

Those bunnies are adorable. If you don't mind me asking, how much do you charge for the classes? They SURE are popular!

Marie & I are going in different directions today. She's going to run errands, I am staying home, laundry & projects. I am hoping to get some of the art unboxed and make some decisions. I would LOVE to get at least some of the art up in the guest room.

Victoria Harbour, ON

Never feels like home Pat until art is hung..
Bet you enjoy some alone time, maybe work in a nap lo

I have a morning class and afternoon class, 8-10 in a 3 hr. class
I charge $20 which includes all, believe me it’s mega work and i won’t get rich but I enjoy the kids.i always try to keep it a $20,:i will be on lookout for a Mother’s Day project.

June gave me the name of a contractor, called and he and his BIL looked at back step project, had great ideas, hopefully next week he will provide an estimate.

I went out and looked at the lilac tree shrubs I planted last year, a few have buds, i will be long gone by the time before they have blooms. Last year I had a rose of Sharon that I didn’t plant, it seems to have survived as well, have to see where I can plant it, never have luck with them.

Houston, TX(Zone 9a)

Betty, just reading about all those yard tasks you got done makes me feel worn out, LOL. I'm impressed!

That Dr. Ho pain relief device sounds like something my MIL can benefit from. She has chronic hip pain from a recent fall, and taking Aleve every day is too hard on her kidneys, since she has CKD...Would you mind dropping me a DMail, please & tell me which Dr.Ho product you have?

Your bunnies are SO cute! And so are the kids, of course. :)

Your Rose Of Sharon wants full sun, well drained soil that doesn't get flooded nor submerged, and pH between 5.5-7.5, optimally. Also likes a fairly big planting hole: as deep as the root ball, and 2 times wider. Hope this helps.

I empathize about you not being there for the lilacs blooming: I'm a huge fan of fragrant plants, and of lovely scents in general (such as food, the smells during a Nature hike, homemade bath salts with natural oils, the scent of the ocean, aromatherapy, etc.)

My family moved from IL to TX when I was a child, and I was sad enough to shed tears, when I found out that lilacs could not be grown in our new ecosystem, AND that we had also left IL too soon in the year for me to enjoy smelling the lilacs in our IL home one last time.

Worked a bit on clearing weeds from the cottage garden today, so I can sow more seeds out there when it's cleared. Didn't plant nor sow anything today (out of space).

Took pics of my potted baby seedlings today... appears they are good enough quality to upload.

Left to right:

Pic 1: 5 gallon pot, sown 3/8 with a complex mix of spinach, sprouting peas, & other salad greens which I didn't bother to write down.

Pic 2: Big windowbox, sown 3/8 with a complex mix of microgreens: beets, brassicas, chard, lettuce, etc.

Pic 3: Closeup of windowbox sprouts. Tiny red things are beets and/or chard. Most of the green dicot seedlings are Brassicas, I think.

Pic 4: Tiny, nearly invisible, sprouts of mixed Impatiens and/or white Alyssum, sown together in this pot on 3/9. Has been kept in bright indirect light (dappled shade), 55-75F.

Iris, you ALMOST make me want to plant something edible!!! For years now I have ONLY planted flowering things. Years ago, I used to at least plant tomatoes for late husband Ben. His last couple of years I did not even do that. Shame on me. 2 years in a row my efforts were basically wasted so I just stopped. I did keep a gorgeous hardy hibiscus where he could enjoy it along with some of his other favorites.

TORRINGTON, AB(Zone 3b)

I've been on a "hgh" ever since I heard that I'm going to visit my family & friends.
Not sure if April or May works best for Michelle & Lonnie and me.
Pat, whenever I would talk about hiring a young person to weed my garden or other such yard work, I was told by friends "just DO it, you won't find any young person to hire". Well, I found a young man who, when sports don't "interfere", is a very good worker lol on the "interfere" I'm glad to know he's involved in sports.
It's supposed to be 64F on Sunday - heat wave! They're talking about all the ice thawing. Can hardly wait! On the other side, I want the farmers around here to have moisture........ well, can't have it both ways. It's supposed to be a dry summer.

Betty, I love those bunnies. Glad to hear dental.is added to your health benefits.
Dianne, glad to hear your hand is doing ok.
Our weather is still a yoyo. Low 40s one day, 75 the next. Not much rain here.
Pat, you need to slow down. You are so busy.
Iris, your plants are looking good. I have never had luck growing tomatoes.

Victoria Harbour, ON

Afternoon, overcast and cold.
I’ve been up since 4am, thinking it’s because of all the police presence in the area since yesterday afternoon/evening, made me antsy as memories come back of Jamie next door being shot to death so ended up getting up. Did chiropractor, picked up some eat treats for Mel and the girls who are coming at 7, had a student 10-12:30, then the woman who wanted 4 bunny kits came to get them, had a bowl,of my veggie soup and now hoping i can get a few hours nap time.

Sharon called me this morning, her son that stays with mom part time hasn’t been well, he was checked in November and the found nothing, had tests done Monday, his doctor started maternity leave but called him yesterday afternoon to say that they found a growth on his pancreas and a specialist would call today. Well phone rang at 6am, they wanted to know if he ate anything yet and if not could he come in asap, needless to say Sharon is worried. Mom has been in bed 8 days, not Covid but sicker than a dog. Sharon wanted to pick her her and bring her up here but she wouldn’t hear of it.

Want to respond to all your posts but 1st I need pain meds and a short nap

(Pat) Kennewick, WA(Zone 5b)

Betty, that is SCARY! Anything that starts with come right in is sure to worry us. Poor Sharon, she will be worried to death.
Thanks for the link Linda.
Susan, planning your trip would create a wonderful High. What a great idea for a gift.
We worked for several hours in Marie's bathroom. Basically much of her stuff that we didn't know what to do with, ended up in boxes in there. The bathroom is huge and she has 2 walk in closets.

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Goodness, what happened yesterday?
Sorry to hear your family isn't doing well. I will say prayers for them.

Some of you have read that our dear friend Jaye is back in the hospital. I finally got to talk to her today. She has had another stroke, and is in therapy for treatment. But she came down with covid while in the hospital.
Please keep her in your prayers.

Betty, I believe Judy is moving to Wisconsin to thier house on the lake.

Houston, TX(Zone 9a)

Windy & warm again today, but it appears the pollen count is dropping a bit. Lessening pollen is likely due to very dry weather we've had the past several weeks. Same unusually long dry spell as Linda and N Texas have been experiencing this Spring...

Supposed to (70 percent) have some rain tomorrow. I'm looking forward to this much needed rain. After a good soaking rain, I hopefully won't have to use any of my precious well water to soften my garden's super hard, super dry soil prior to planting & sowing.

Helped an e-pal who gardens in Ohio by providing her with a list of invasive plants today. In doing so, learned a bit about invasive plants myself. There were plants on that list which I didn't realize were invasive, one of which is Barberry/ Berberis vulgaris- a very useful medicinal herb.

Another thing I learned is my Impatiens and/or Alyssum seedlings (sown mixed together) can grow amazingly quickly, during the seedling stage!
They were 1.5mm across yesterday, and today they are already doubled in size: 3mm across! :)

Nothing sown/planted today. Insufficient time. Garden time shorter than usual, because I needed to help my 82 yr old MIL cook a 3 course chicken fried steak dinner with gravy. Fortunately, dinner was a tasty success. :)

During garden time, chose to move all my seedling pots under patio roofs, to ensure seedlings don't drown or get washed out of their pots, if/when we get the rain that is forecast for tomorrow.

Betty: Healing prayers going up for your Mom, & for Sharon's son.

Victoria Harbour, ON

I am beyond tired, the girls just left, had a great time with them, imagine almost 10 and I am still up.

One of the ladies that crafted tonight is an RCMP Officer, she didn’t say. Much as to the going ones in the Harbour, they all mentioned the young man that was killed in car accident but other than that nothing.

They did the scope on Brian, gets results Monday but they booked biopsy for early week. Mom sounded better today but still not the greatest. Sharon and I are going to the city a week tomorrow to visit with her, we really should do it more often.

Lindakay, thanks for keeping us updated on Jaye and Judy. Jaye certainly has had a time of it,then to get Covid on top of her health issues, poor thing. Cute as a button she is, she was at Joyce’s in Ohio for one of our gatherings. i would imagine Steve is near retirement if he isn’t already although knowing Steve he always has to be doing something. They will love being at the lake.

I envy you guys being able to be gardening already outside, figure my seedlings won’t go in the ground until mid May if not later.. Mother Nature is so screwed up who know what kind of spring/summer we will all have.

Dianne, did you find town was full of mom and tots shopping and looking for something to do.was cold here today, started to rain heavily around 6 and still raining.

Am sure Susan that crops will be horrible this year and up goes the prices.

Deb, how are the completions going?

Iris I will get post the Dr.Ho info tomorrow. The tense unit I have also comes with a foot unit, should be using it as well but never think of it.

Pat,know I should know this but with all the sales/moves I’ve forgotten, do you and Marie have your own areas? How is Stanley liking his new lodgings? Getting used to another furry?

Sharon you are quiet, what has your weather been like? Did they start the building of Brian’s apartment yet? Guess he is so comfy he will hate to move.

Iris that is quite a menu, were you having company.
Are you a master gardener..with all the gardens I have i know the basic names of most common plants. Joyce (Joycet) from Ohio is a master gardener, how she remembers all the names is beyond me.

Lindakay ,off to look at the fire link

Praying the biopsies are all good.
Those lady's look like they enjoyed making those bunnies..

Victoria Harbour, ON

Stopped raining, although i didn’t go outside yet if felt mild when I let Ziggy out.

Yes, they want to do another evening, they are great friend since high school and don’t get a lot of evening together so I will have to put my thinking cap on.

Slept til 8, lots to clean up downstairs and reorganize but i will do It gradually.
Forgot to buy hamburger, will check my freezer, next time at Costco i will buy a large tray and divide it into packages but that won’t happen today unless I want to step it up and go to Orillia, could as Sharon if she is up for a drive.

Haven’t had a crave to spaghetti in months, starting to eat small meals including solids so best i cook.

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Glad to hear you are finally eating again.

(Pat) Kennewick, WA(Zone 5b)

No Betty, we do not have our "own space" other than our bedrooms. This has been a bit of problem since Marie frequently naps out in the living room with the TV on. She does not set out to nap but falls asleep.
Stanley is still confined to our bedroom as we just have not had the energy to work with the 2 of them to introduce them safely and carefully monitored.
The sewing room cabinets have been moved INTO the house and the contractors are starting the process of setting them into place.

Victoria Harbour, ON

Sunny but extremely cold

I imagine Pat that it will take time for you both to adjust to routines, thought you were looking for housing could give you both separate units.
Did pick up Sharon and went to Costco, bought far more meat/poultry than i should have, freezers are full so not sure where i will put it, they had rotisserie chicken for $7.99 so will have that and yams for supper have to smile, cut ends and eyes off of yams and put them in a planter to see if they will grow into potato vines.

I thought I’d make the sauce but decided i would go in the morning and pick up what i need to make meatballs and stuffed peppers.

Omg, there was a roast at Costco, likely would feed 6, was $118.00, how on earth can people afford that?

Dropped into fabric shop and Sharon was able to buy all the fabric she needs for the elephant quilt for a baby shower, i bought nothing.

I have to tell you, my mother is a WITCH, I am about ready to disown her, she has had her moments but she is beyond words..a hurtful evil lady enough said on that.

Las Vegas, NV(Zone 9a)

Betty, I've been on here at least 14 years and this is about the 14th time you said your mother was a witch. It just made me chuckle. She does know how to pull your chain and shame on her for doing it. We have had rain the last two days which the west needs it desperately and we even had snow yesterday early morning but it didn't set on the ground the night before the snow we had big winds which again took down several big sumac branches and they are still down because the tree trimming people could get in here because of the rain so if it's not raining tomorrow they'll do it tomorrow or they will do it on Monday all the trees are down in the HOA area so it is an HOA expense. Emma and I went for a walk this morning in the rain and it is getting raining. My granddaughter, her husband and three children are driving over from Phoenix area tonight because they're youngest James Alexander will be blessed and named at church on Sunday.

Pat, finally in your new home and getting things done. I am sure you and Marie will work things out. My husband always had the TV on and I just worked around it. I laid down yesterday on my bed about 3 o'clock because I was tired and thought I could take a small nap. No such luck can't go to sleep until it's bedtime. I have two cats and one dog but the two cats were raised with two dogs and they are best buddies peanut the cat and Emma, the dog sleep next to each other on Vern's side of the bed. I think you might be surprised I would just open the door stand back and watch they might surprise you. Cat food has to be elevated so that the dog can't eat it. my cats food is on top of the washer in the laundry room and I have a litter box in the laundry room area, and my bedroom.

Betty, the price that steak/roast does not surprise me. Meat has gone up everywhere. I was at Costco last week was going to pick up some hamburger and their grinding machine broke down so they had no hamburger. The chicken you bought is $4.99 in the US. It is their leader to get you in the store and it's all the way at the back of the store. I have had my prescriptions refilled there and the last four refills had no co-pay. I have one prescription that is not covered by my insurance and CVS and Walgreens would charge me $150 a month for it and Costco was charging me $15. The last two times I've purchased it there was no co-pay and the pharmacy is at the back of the store so my cheaper prescriptions cost and the rotisserie $4.99 chicken cost me about $100 at least.

Iris, welcome to the group. Iris was one of my mother's favorite flowers. I have several in the front area I used to have many many beds of irises. I had a friend that lived in Salem Oregon area that grew and sold irises. She just passed this last year.

Linda, how is everything in Texas? Looks like your weather in our weather are close to the same. My strawberries are blooming. My roses have put on new leaves and the irises are pushing up heads the snapdragons and violas I planted in November are starting to take off that happens every year. That is when the nurseries bring these large pots of snapdragons and sell them for about $25 a pot and you could just plant them in November and they'll go to that size by the time of year. My neighbors are in Japan for 10 days and they asked me if I would look after their home. they have five rosebushes across the front of their home on one side of the walkway that are knockout roses. Never get fed so when I was feeding my several beds yesterday because I knew it was going to rain today I dropped by her roses, and dropped a little bit of rose food on them, I'm sure they have a camera on their system and they probably are going to ask me what I was doing and I'll just tell them that they asked me to look up to their home and I saw that they hadn't been fed so I thought maybe they just missed that this was the time of the year they should be fed.

Houston, TX(Zone 9a)

Thank you Sharon, for the welcome. :) Naming me Iris was my Grandma Rose's idea. We have lots of flower/plant names in our family: Rose, Iris, Arnica, Zinnia, Millifleur (Millie), and several others.

Healing Prayers for the person having biopsies done. I have been down that same road recently, and I still have some more tests & biopsies to go.

Betty,
The previous chicken fried steak menu was not due to us having company, but rather due to finding the pre-tenderized round steak cutlets on sale.

I am a "natural" when it comes to my gift for gardening & Botanical info. I am blessed with a Savant-like, encyclopedic plant memory, & considered an unofficial Master Gardener. I didn't yet take the Master Gardener exam for Travis County but have volunteered extensively in Central TX as an Arbor Day society tree planter for the needy, composting educator, Native plants activist/preservationist, and garden maintenance volunteer for Zilker Botanical Gardens.

In college, I got a very high A in a University of Texas Botany course called "Native Plants of Texas" by successfully identifying about 97% of the 300 native plants that we were taught during the college course. Since I have a God given talent, and plants are my passion, learning all those plants was not difficult for me.

No gardening today: Thunderstorms with hail. Happy that we Finally got some desperately needed rainfall!

I should be able to plant my cottage garden seeds tomorrow morning, now that the ground is no longer parched solid, and impenetrable, as an adobe brick. :)

The red Knock Out roses here have put on new leaves and a couple of them have flowers blooming. Reward for fertilizing them 2 weeks ago, and moreso, a reward for all the 4 hours of rose pruning I did on Valentines Day, which despite garden gloves, resulted in about 2-3 scratches/thorn end splinters per hand where rose thorns poked through the gloves.

My recently dormant, perennial potted violets have burst into a display of vibrant green, heart shaped foliage. I need to fertilize them so they can bloom.

The bright magenta azaleas in the front yard are in full bloom- and gorgeous! Will post a pic or 2 of them when I get a chance.

Back to sorting my seeds for sowing in the cottage garden tomorrow morning! :)

(Pat) Kennewick, WA(Zone 5b)

We did look at places that would have accommodated more separate space but most of them simply did not have a common area that would accommodate the sewing area we were looking for. It seemed we had to choose between separate areas & no good common area for sewing, or common areas & no separate space. It will be better when Marie has a recliner in her room. LOL, maybe I will put a recliner in the longarm room.

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Iris, I wish I could remove names if plants like you do. I moved up to Amarillo last year when my husband git sick it was too much for me to take care of him by myself. He had colon cancer that had spread to his liver, on top of that he developed severe congestive heart failure. He passed away 1 week after we moved here. I knew I couldn't live by myself, so I stayed here with my son. Our soul in Del Rio was hard. They called it caliche. Everything I grew in Del Rio was in pots or raised beds.
Betty, how is your mom feeling. Maybe because she isn't feeling well, she is cranky?
Sharon, our weather is up and down. 70 one day, low 40s the next.
My vision has been bad since I moved here last April and getting worse. I finally saw the eye doctor today. I was told my cataracts have developed quite a bit, and it's time to have cataract surgery. Surgeon will call me Monday for a consultation. I was told it will be at least a month.

Victoria Harbour, ON

Morning, hear the birds chirping so had to get up, can’t be too cold out as Ziggy wanted out.

Thinking of you all with those tornadoes, seems Texas and Ohio were in their path but did spread in many regions, hope you and family are all safe..

Sharon I am sure you have heard it many times, when it gets to the point that none of her children want to be bothered it’s bad! Hard to believe you had snow, that is rare is it not? Will be nice for you to spend time with granddaughter and young one. Am sure your neighbours will appreciate the fact that even though you’ve more work than enough in your own gardens that you took time to tend to theirs.

Same here Sharon, when Bella comes mom tries to keep her away from Ziggy, i very told her enough times they would be fine, right now we are at the point they know their boundaries, don’t play together but can be in close proximity so once the household quietness Stanley might just end up with a friend.

Iris, love the family names, your grandma knew you all would be cherished flowers in her family garden.

one doesn’t find great deals anymore in the meat department, Sharon and I both said yesterday, 2 soup bones $15 and at one time you couldn’t give chicken wings away and now almost buy seafood for same price so a feast you had.

I envy your gardening knowledge, much like Sharon your gardens must be spectacular.i would say my gardens are cottage/ English garden/primitive looking gardens, not manicured that take so much time to keep up, so many plants immune that if there are a few weeds the flowers and shrubs hide them, but still lovely. I believe i bought a few knockoff roses, hmm have to check. I had a beautiful orange/yellow Azalea out back near the picture frame, it hasn’t come up in a few years ago, might have to buy another.

Pat, your love of sewing and long arm quilting just might be the perfect haven/get away space, treat yourself to a recliner with all the gadgets, massage, heat etc . How wonderful that would be. Am sure you are getting excited to finally getting that space done so you can enjoy!

Lindakay think I did ask, is the soil better and will you have an area you can have a garden? You loved your roses, hope you do. All that sewing must be hard with cataracts, let’s hope you get them done soon.. would they do both at same time?

northeast, IL(Zone 5a)

Betty, prayers for good news for Sharon's son, or, at least something with an easy fix.

My Luca finished his championship on Thursday in Louisville, KY. I'm still in a bit of shock that he finished so quickly. This was only his 7th show since going out with a handler. He'll continue to show in the champion class until early April, then come home for a bit. I may show him myself, or, have a friend's daughter show him. She wants to handle dogs and has a good hand with them.

Thumbnail by momcat
(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Yes, soil here is better. Just hard to have a garden with 3 large dogs running around. My son built 2 tall raised beds last year. We need to get them filled with soul and plants as soon as it warms up here. We still have freezing Temps at night.
Cataract surgery will be one eye at a time. I wish they would do both.
Deb, your dog is beautiful. Congratulations.

(Pat) Kennewick, WA(Zone 5b)

Linda, I was told the reason they don't do BOTH at same time is in case of complications. If there were issues, you sure would NOT want to lose sight in both eyes!
We started the integration with the pets. Only a short time with Stanley in my lap & Jenny in Marie's. Then we let Stanley explore while Marie held Jenny. It went well, no aggression shown this time & Stanley was not overly fixated on Jenny. It was a win.
I can't believe how fast Luca got his championship! Go boy!! Are your plans to use him for stud?
Betty, didn't you plant a Knock Out for Todd in the memory garden?
Lunch is ready & I need to get painting that garage.

Victoria Harbour, ON

Ohhh ohhh yes I did and bought a primitive tree limb support for it, I’ll check it out tomorrow

Now how on earth did I forget that? S o r r y

Congratulations Deb, thereAre no words, he is just so regal looking.. Kudo’s to Luca and the trainer (of course the care in breeding, can see you smile from here. Bet you can’t wait to have Luca home for a bit..so exciting as I know seeing what Sharon does for competition how much work it has taken to get his championship.

Now that makes sense Pat about not wanting to do both incase something was to go wrong.

Lindakay it would be hard for sure trying to do a garden. Todd had made you raised beds before he got ill correct? Too bad they could not have been moved
Great news Pat, am sure Jenny and Stanley will be inseparable shortly. When Bella is here I don’t lift Ziggy’s food up as Bella had to have her teeth removed a few years ago but she still manages to eat some.

Body wants a hot bath, not a wonder, kept busy all morning, went to town for an hour then cooked all afternoon. Was going to cook the chocolate pudding for pie but decided I can wait til morning

I have to learn to cook for 1

Ziggy had a look as though he was saying “sit down you silly lady”

Betty, we could have moved the raised beds, but the u haul truck was already full.
That's a lot of food.
Pat, glad the animals got along.

Victoria Harbour, ON

Sun is trying its best to come out, then one minute you see a few snow flakes, at this point the winter is almost behind us so if we do get a falling of snow it will not stay.

New owners Lindakay might be gardeners and will enjoy. Did you have neighbours who might want them?

I was up at 8, finished my chocolate pie and made chicken soup, tad early for lunch but it smelt so delicious had to try a bowl, no chores for the day so laying on couch watching a hallmark movie, have my feet up on pillow and am as comfy as can be.

Can anyone think of something I can do while laying down?

Thumbnail by Bettypauze
(Pat) Kennewick, WA(Zone 5b)

Betty, likely I would not have remembered but a Knock Out rose is the ONLY variety of rose I have EVER bought. They do well for me & I am not a rose person.

Day #2 of the "Stanley & Jenny" introduction was last night for a longer period. Stanley was free to roam, he passed right under the recliner chair that Marie & Jenny were sitting on. We have NOT allowed them loose in the same room but things are going well. .

northeast, IL(Zone 5a)

Glad the introductions are going well. Life can be difficult when you have animals that don't get along!
I would consider letting someone use Luca as a stud, as long as they have all the recommended health testings done on their girl first. All of my dogs have the health testing done before I breed them, and to maintain my "Breeder of Merit" status with AKC, I have to be certain that any female that I breed my dog to has it done also.

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Pat, glad to hear there are no problems yet with the introduction phase.
Betty, that soup looks good.

Victoria Harbour, ON

Puff, wrote a long post last night, must have fallen asleep and post no more, don’t you just hate it when you do such things? lol

I’ve been for my chiropractor session, had to drive in a blizzard, guess winter is back to finish off March.

joanne my girlfriend who know I love Joann Fabrics messaged me to say Joann’s had filed for bankruptcy, tell me it ain’t so.. so many of the places we girls like to go to when we go stateside have closed. Guess they say that can’t recoup since Covid.

Pat there will be times just like humans who don’t see eye to eye that Stanley & Jenny will scrap a bit then off they go, best friends again. They have done much better than you thought so that is a plus. Meant to ask, are you able to set up the long arm yourselves when ready or will you have to have the company you bought it from come in? Sure wish circuit board for my machine would come in.

Dianne how is the weather your way, guess winter might go out like a lion.

Lindakay, I don’t like the dividing it all for single meals, keeping out soup for lunch and spaghetti for supper.we’re you able to fin someone to look at the long arm?

You and Sharon would be great friends I am sure, you both have the same high standards when breeding and selling your pups. A commitment of the highest.

On my way home I dropped into Foodland for bottled pop, of course a package of 4’oclock seeds had to c9me home with me..already planted.

St.Patrick’s day decor is no longer, when an able body person drops in I will have them put the bin away. I decided I will not take Easter bins out, hip is so bad that it’s not imperative that they come out, a 1st for me.

Found a bunny cut out waiting to be painted so I will finish it today and next time Linda is in the area she can bring it to her daughter.

Vanessa comes at 4-6pm, doctor calls at 6pm, other than that I will do nothing.

Haven’t had breakfast so best I eat something.

Thumbnail by Bettypauze
(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Both of my longarm machines are at the repair place. He is very busy, and I was told it would be about 5 weeks. Just patiently waiting. In the meantime I have my new 5 foot longarm I can use.

Victoria Harbour, ON

5’ one should be able to do all what you’ve been making? Takes forever to get machines repaired, if you buy machine from them they guarantee 48 hr repair unless like mine that needs a main part that has to be ordered. An expensive hobby for sure.

Not sure what the chiropractor touched but talk about pain, have to lay down as I can’t keep my head up without severe pain. Going to message Vanessa’s mom to say i can’t do classes tonight.

Verona, ON

Good morning. It is dull and dreary here.

Zeke and I just came in from working on the wood. It was chilly out there. There was a cold wind coming in off the lake. Chaos stayed inside in his recliner.

Just when I thought we had a handle on Zeke he had 2 seizures yesterday. The vet said to keep a close eye on him for the next few days. I laughed to myself as Zeke is never 2ft away from me.

LK I sure hope you can get your longarm fixed. I have no idea what it is but it brought back some very warm memories of Barb and Thea. When we all met up at Thea's of course we had to go to a fabric shop.

Deb your standards for your line are to be commended. I was watching Cruft on You Tube I thought of your Luca. My goodness 1 dog just went rogue - it was a sight to behold.

Need to find something to eat. I didn't have breakfast.

Hi everybody, been busy gardening. The rain we needed did arrive. Less than hoped for, but enough to help quite a bit.

Betty, your plants do look great! What are you growing in the littlest pots??

Sowed mixed Brassicas (turnip, mustard, broccoli, pak choy, collard, etc) in the back half of the Cottage garden.

Sowed two 9' rows of carrots interplanted with radishes, in the front left of the Cottage garden.

Sowed a few mixed flower seeds in the back, center of the Cottage garden. Still need to sow some more.

Thyme in hanging basket may be just barely starting to germinate.
Basil seeds in 1 gallon pot about 50% germinated, fine because those seeds were old.

Last pic: Snow peas & some of the mixed salad greens seeds are up, in the large container.

The others are some pics of our Azaleas in bloom:

The winter storm passed through quickly Dianne, they are calling for more tonight and next few days. Poor Zeke, do they know why he is getting these seizures? I can see you having to watch your step as not to trip, he sure is very devoted to you.

Sharon says mom wants to come up for a week or so, I’m not pleased, Sharon is going stateside, my brother Mike leaving next week for the islands again, Bernie in Florida soooo with me she will be. At least if Sharon is home mom can take my car and go visit with Sharon part of the day.. i must be in mega pain, i just want to complain..say stop Betty

Slept for several hours, time to nap again.

Morning, weather warning for today, saw that Marie had been and shovelled the entire area but snow is coming down at a fast paste so I got dressed and went and redid the area she did. I’ll give it til 11am and go back out.

My doctor who was suppose to call at 6 called at 7 last night, end result is he will give me 2 more scripts to help with acid and digestion, try that for 30 days and if it doesn’t work then he will book a scope

Betty, hope your new meds help you feel better soon.

Since you asked about things that can be done lying down, here goes:

Planning future meals, with possible use of cell phone for searches and ideas
Looking at weather report to plan future activities
Sewing repairs such as sewing up small holes, sewing buttons back on
Reading and sorting mail into piles for later actions
Reading the Bible, or a book or magazine
Reading emails on cell phone
Doing word puzzles, online word games, or Sudoku
Playing video games or cell phone games
Playing chess against a computer/ AI chess player
Watching educational or entertaining videos/shows on YouTube, or on TV
Prayer and/or meditation
Some isotonic exercises can be done while lying down. (Pilates, yoga, etc)
Listening to music, and/or lifting 5-10 lb. hand weights to the music
Listening to an e-book, podcast, etc.
Listening to nature sounds on YouTube

I was on bed rest for 7 months of my last pregnancy, so I figured out several things to do while lying down.

Today's garden update:
Dry, breezy and cool (about 63F) most of the day. No rain predicted for tomorrow, either. But we might get about 1" of rain on Thurs.

Sowed another 9' row of radish seeds, interspersed w/ carrot seeds:
Make 5mm trench with a stick, sow seeds, cover, press lightly.

Sowed small mangetout pea seeds saved from last year's garden, in front section of Cottage garden:
poke holes with stick, add seeds, cover, press lightly.

Sowed Early Summer Crookneck yellow squash (American Seed), 3seeds /each sq. foot, in a slightly elevated, mostly sunny area of rear Cottage garden where okra & squash have previously done well.
Same sowing method as for the pea seeds.

Sowed Hummingbird Wildflower Blend (American Seed) in shady middle of Cottage garden: Scatter, then cover with 1/4" of compost.

Lightly watered Cottage garden, to water new seeds in & make sure all the Brassica seeds recently sown
are still moist enough.

The potted seedlings & potted plants didn't need water.
