Hi, all.
Susie, thanks for the new thread.
Yes, I know it takes a long time before the amaryllis belladonna will bloom. Mostly growing the seeds for the fun of it :) Curious to see what I get!
I have a pack of chamomile seeds. Never got them planted though. If you're interested in trying them, and don't mind if I take a few to try next season, I'd be happy to share them :)

I have (fresh 2012 seed):
Baptisia (purple) False Indigo
mixed zinnia
popsicle asiatic lily
four o'clocks (white & a few yellow mixed in)
'lime twist' clematis
'president' clematis
flag iris (not sure if yellow or purple)

I will update as I find more (I forget everything I have already harvested) and also seed from last year that I never got planted.

I have one GIANT seed pod from my "Gamecock" Iris http://davesgarden.com/guides/pf/go/33052/#b...I cant wait to pop it open and take a look. Its not ready yet though. I rec'd it in a trade last year. This year I got one bloom and it gave me seed. I am very pleased.
Had to repot all my house plants and get them in yesterday. Temperature is fixin to drop into the 30's tonight :/ Im SO not ready for this weather! Lots of tomatoes to harvest before they freeze - maybe I can get away with covering them...I hope so. Making sure the trees all have enough water, gardens too. Watching the bluebirds flit around outside my office window right now :)

(Pam) Warren, CT(Zone 5b)

I'm on the list, #25, but spelled wrong. I'm PFG, not PGF. Just in case anyone needs to look me up...

Also, my daughter is now on DG, SNARVA, and wants to join. Her computer isn't working right now so I'm signing up for her, but that will be taken care of soon. Her garden is in New Jersey, I think Zone 5.

She has only been there a short time, and lived in the city before that, so doesn't have any seeds to put in. I will have more than enough, and will put in enough to cover for her.

Only 5 more days until I get to my garden... I've heard that there were lots of tomatoes from a friend who harvested them while I was away. He also said there were lots of flowers, and everything looked good. Between the irrigation system I put in just before I left, a reasonable amount of rain, and the helper who was supposed to work 3 hours a week, I'm fairly sure there are no big disasters. But there are so many special plants I've been nurturing- baby clematis, liner hostas, other new plants, seedlings and divisions- there is no way to find out how they are all doing until I get there. And seeds-- who knows what I'll find!

One thing I'm sure of is globe thistle. Does anyone want some? If so, I'll clean extra, otherwise I'll just do a small amount. Last year I did a ton, it took forever, then I didn't know what to do with it all!

Pam

brainerd, MN(Zone 4a)

Pam - I had globe thistle last year (and still have some I can share) what a pain to clean those! I got really good with the back of a spoon so I wouldnt get pricked! Took a while for me to figure out a way I could do it without touching them at all.

HOW on earth do I get the seed from my beebalm? Recommendations?

(Pam) Warren, CT(Zone 5b)

Clever to use a spoon! I did it in front of the tv... Really, really tedious!

Concord, NH

bee balm is had unless you put heads in paper bag when very dry you can shake em out tiny seed and not all will give seed

(susie) Hastings, MI(Zone 5a)

I Missed my BB Seeds Forgot to put Bonnets On them. I have to try to get seeds allot more plants yet just got to find what I did with the bonnets .

Sorry PAM For the Mis Print will FIX IT & Also Pam I Have added your DD But will you have her post as soon as she can get on
the forum & Have her send me her address when she gets up & Running :)

First one looks somewhat like a ladybell Adenophora
if it is not sure of variation. Go to google for a search
& click on images to see if it is what you have.

(susie) Hastings, MI(Zone 5a)

Thought this evening primrose but can;t be for this plant is 3-6 ft tall opens all day flower is about 1" & you can see turns into seed pod up the stem & There is 1000's of seeds that reseed if you don't dead head.

Barbourville, KY(Zone 7a)

That first one is an Oenothera, Susie. Oenothera biennis. I know the third but I can't conjure the name right now.

Marti, if you plan to visit the Daniel Boone Festival, here's where you will find the schedule for the week's festivities.

Mountain View, CA(Zone 9b)

Hi, all.
Been thinking about what seeds I'd like to get if still available. Still haven't figured out where everything will be planted, but here's my list at this point:
deejay9: CARNATION "DBL YELLOW -GRENADIN GOLDEN SUN"? Would this do well in zone 9b? How far apart do the plants need to be spaced, and how tall do they get?
Cris316: Alyssum "Royal Carpet" (especially if it really only grows to 3 inches tall) and some of the Siberian Wallflower.
Midwestfarmwife: Dwarf French Marigold, Dwarf Sungold Sunflower (just a few as I'll only have room for a couple plants, but thought it'd be fun to try), and some Dwarf Sweet Peas (if they are fragrant).
And diamond9192002 may also have some seeds for me as we discussed by dmail.
*** Seeds I could contribute:
Besides the Cerinthe "Pride of Gibraltar" collected from my plants this spring that I'm definitely including, I have several packets of seeds (packed for 2011) that I could include. I'd like to try a few of each of these, but I won't be able to plant them all, so if someone is interested in any of these, please let me know what you'd like so I make sure I send the rest of the packet along when the box comes to me.
Basil, Italian Cameo, Large-Leaf Container.
Chamomile, Bodegold (says it makes a pineapple scented tea).
Heliotrope "Deep Marine".
Nigella, Persian Violet (but I need to double check to see how much is left).
Phlox, Dutch Tapestry.
Rose, Miniature, Angel Wings.
Salvia, Marble Arch.
Stock, Ten-Week Bouquet (will need to see how much of this one is left, too).
Sunflowers, Musicbox (maybe just a few seeds left).
Creeping Thyme.
Michelle

Hi, all.
Susie, thanks for checking for the seeds. Thanks for offering to share a plant since you can't find the seeds :) Can you give me an idea of how tall it gets and how much space it will want once established so I can plan to have an appropriate space for it? Oh, and I should have double checked before, but this carnation is fragrant, right?
Regarding my list of seeds above, I will likely not put them all in the box. For each kind of seeds I receive, I will put one of these in, and perhaps a couple of others. So if there is something someone is particularly interested in, please be sure to let me know so I'm sure I include it. Otherwise, I'll just pick some. In case you want to see what any of these will look like, I got them all from Renee's Garden.
Michelle

(Pam) Warren, CT(Zone 5b)

Well I finally got to the garden last Friday and worked like a demon until Tuesday afternoon when we left. I'm just rested up now, and we go back tomorrow for another busy weekend.

Most everything looked good except for a few plants in pots. The guy that watered while I was gone did a fair job, but missed the things that were scattered around away from the main patio. Also, the batteries were low in the irrigation system I put in before we went, which was surprising. I would have expected them to last longer. Anyway, some things were dry, and the few perennials I left in pots near sprayheads in the garden were dry or dead. I fixed that and watered extra to make up, and whatever wasn't dead perked up.

The sad thing was that when I left the garden was full of summer color, and the later group was just starting- particularly phlox and the tomatoes. Now they are finished, it's really fall.

I did start seed collecting. So far I have Veronica Sunny Border Blue, White Knautia, Nicotiana Alata Fragrant Angel and N Langsdorfii, Echinacea Rubinstern, E White Swan, and E Green Envy (bi-color). There are lots more Veronica's in the garden- Red Fox, Icicle, Evelyn to name some, and Salvias- Snow Hill, Blue Hill, May Night, Caradonna. Except for Nicotiana, the annuals haven't yet set enough seed to collect, but I will have some Zinnias, Cosmos, Sweet Alyssum (white), various nasturtiums and marigolds if anyone's interested.

Does anyone have experience with Knautia? These were (3) plants, supposed to be Mars Midget but bloomed white last year. I moved them in the fall to the middle of a sunny border and they got soooo TALL I couldn't believe it, at least 5-6 feet! I'll try to post a picture a little later. I harvested seeds, then cut them back to the basal rosette, just so I could maneuver around them. They can't stay where they are, but I don't know where else to put them. I guess they transplant ok since I did it last year and it certainly didnt hurt them. If anyone wants to take a chance on how they might ship, I'll be happy to share. Just lmk...

Deejay, my daughter should be checking in soon. She can't get on personal websites from work, and her home computer won't go on line. I'm giving her an old one of mine that still works well, but she won't get it until next week.

Pam
