July Lilies

Agawam, MA(Zone 6a)

Jeeem - shrub is a Blue Hydrangea, I think 'Nikko Blue.' Leftwood you are not picking on me, you are teaching me. phoebeviolets I like to purchase 1 bulb of the lilies I like and learn from seeing what the flower looks like. I just own a little piece of Agawam and want to turn it into my little bit of heaven on earth and find lilies seem to do that for me. (Especially the one's that have a fragrance.) Lilies for today.

Araesque or Scheherazade. I can't seem to tell them apart.

Last picture I think was Araesque. I think this one is Scheherazade

Here's a comparison of the two for you, Debbie. Arabesque has more white at the end of the petals, not so with Scheherazade. Each one is beautiful.

Pirl, Thanks so much. I quess both are Scheherazade I'll look in the garden & see if I can find Arabesque. There also is a yellower one which one is that.
I have to let your know Rosie has developed a new habit-Thinks lily stems are sticks-has gotten about ten of my lilies. It is a good thing she is as cute as she is. Today she is trying to dig to China around the lilies.

Bonide's Repels-All advertises that it repels dogs, cats and other critters:

Show us a photo of Rosie so we can all see how cute she is.

Sharon

your lilies are gorgeous - I particularly like 'Bloody Ram' and 'Bright Star'.

Jamaica Plain, MA(Zone 6a)

Thanks, Carolyn. Bloody Ram is one of Buggy's. I don't remember where Bright Star came from - maybe Lily Nook?

(Arlene) Southold, NY(Zone 7a)

Bright Star is such a wonderful color and Bloody Ram is so beautiful, Sharon! They're all great.

I'm loving looking at everyone's lilies! Somehow I just found this thread. So many lilies just went on my want list!

Robina opened for me today.

Thanks, Pirl. Everyone's got gorgeous lilies. Wish I had room for more.

(Arlene) Southold, NY(Zone 7a)

We all want more room when we see all these lilies!

Art - lovely photos of lovely lilies. America is an Asiatic, isn't it?

Colorado Springs, CO(Zone 6a)

Yes it is. But I don't know enough about lilies to know if that means anything about my lily ;)

Divernon, IL(Zone 5b)

perenniallyme, great shots of lilies...I think the one designated as l. pardalinum is some tiger lily.

art - it is wonderful regardless of what type of lily it is. A friend has a lily thread and is looking for red lilies that aren't Asiatics and that's the only reason I asked.

Jack - are you really short - like 2' tall or are your lilies all really tall?

Thanks, jmorth. And I stand corrected. That was a slip of the tongue. I meant lancifolium. Maybe wishful thinking too, because my pardalinums, which showed promise last year, seem to have shrunk and/or disappeared entirely this year.

(Arlene) Southold, NY(Zone 7a)

What causes them to shrink and/or disappear? I have one area like that and would love to know the answer.

fabulous pics, everyone. Shocking and Susuki speak to me. wow

Edited to add: I don't know if it's my imagination but the color on your lilies look so much richer than they do in my warm climate. Mine bloom in late spring, so it should be about the same as northern summer, but still, your lilies look like cool babies. Again, I may just be imagining things.

They fade out here in the hideous heat we've had. Here's a photo of Shocking showing an older bloom and a brand new one just opening (July 12) during a brief "cool" spell (under 90 degrees).

pirl, lol on your height query..., actually I'm just under 6'... I do like the perspective when capturing shots from 'down under'...Those Pardelilums were over 7' tall.
Excelsior finishing up..., after the still blooming orientals and OT's fade out, only species lilies (2) left to bloom.
