Jack - I like that perspective as well. Really smooth color on Excelsior.

Yes, this has been a wonderful year for Black Beauty.

GREAT picture of Back Beauty.
I have to dig mine up due to a fence we're having put up.

When is the best time to do that ? can I dig them up right now and replant them immediately ? they have not bloomed this year because they have been overshadowed by OGR.
The fence is going up within the next 2 weeks or so.

Black Beauty is gorgeous! As well as Excelsior!

South Lake Tahoe, CA

If the Black Beauty must be moved, be careful.
Dig deep and round to avoid the new root structure, being careful not to remove any scales from the bulb. Gently shake off the dirt without breaking any roots.
And most of all, hold onto the stem...c.a.r.e.f.u.l.l.y..with 2 hands.

don't ya wish that your an octopus now?

Locate your new spot and prepare a hole at least a 6 inch deep and wide .
Place the whole plant in the middle and fill with organic soil, gently firming soil around the stem. Fill soil up to the original soil level of the plant. Stake plant if needed for support. Saturate the plant slowly with water. You can give a small burst of fertilizer too to help it along.

Hope this helps.

Actually, if you can dig your lily without losing much soil around the roots, they'll never know they've been moved.

That's a beautiful white one and a cheery good morning one as well. The sheen on both of them is lovely.

I use Bulbtone and sprinkle it around the emerging lilies in the spring and then in late summer when all have stopped blooming. I feed all bulbs then, tulips etc too.
Z6a and am on vaca but expect o use BT when I get back or mid August.
I also use Bulb Boost when putting bulbs in the ground. Its hard to find where I live so I order it on line.

Good afternoon, I think we need a continuation thread. Who has a pretty lily pic they want to show off? I've none.

(Arlene) Southold, NY(Zone 7a)

Maybe this one qualifies. It just started opening on 7/20.
