Thanks Moby!
Thanks, Tex! I'll keep an eye out for that one!
Love that 'Jameson', I think I've seen that one offered from Faraway Flowers.
gemini_sage, Yes that is where I got it.
Thanks, dlefferts! I love the bit of "cinnamon sprinkles" on it, makes me think there's some L.henryi in its parentage.
The color on Swansea is so lovely. IF you were a friend you could plant it in my garden!
Don't know the answer on the virus but would love to know more and see photos.
Vossner, I would say virused IMO...but that not an expert. I hated too, but I had to get rid of Invasion this year due to it being virused.
Black Beauty blooming here now...it finally has some size to it! Have to try to get a photo.
Nice Henries Donnamack
Thanks sweetie!
Nery, that Lollipop looks virused to me too. And that tells me that no matter how good a bulb company is, its best to get Lilies from grower/vendors who specialize in them- Holland imports are risky. I'd gotten virused Lilies from box stores and bloomingbulb before, but kinda felt like a company like Brent&Becky's was safe. I suppose its mostly a risk to folks with a lot of Lilies the disease could be passed on to.
Oh, and 'Swansea' is stunning!
mnorberry, nepalense is wonderful!
Donna, your White Henryi display is gorgeous!
It looks virused to me, too.
Neal, as many lily bulbs as I buy, I've never had a virused one. Yet. But if you think about it, why would Brent and Becky be any different from any of the other retailers? Their lilies appear to be from the Dutch trade too. I doubt they buy from The Lily Garden, or MAK directly. Or maybe they do. I think that's the only way they would be safer, if they buy from the growers.
And even the growers get some of theirs from the Dutch trade. They're not all field grown in the US.
I have to ask this question, so please pardon my ignorance - is it possible to tell if a lily bulb is virused before it is planted or do we have to wait until the bulb is in the ground and flowers before we know. I have not had these problems myself, but would rather not have the problems, therefore, I feel I must ask these questions.
carolyn, I don't think you can tell b4 it's planted.
Neal, I emailed B&B w/ a pic
