2010 Iris Season Begins ....Part Two

'Gnu Again' is a deep velvety purple color, not blue

Have to find my photo of 'Alpha Gnu'... it's nearly identical to 'Batik', but the color is slightly more violet-purple than the blue-blue of 'Batik', and I think it's an IB.

'Milenium Falcon' bloomed for me last year for the first time, and this year it's putting on a show!

(color on this one is pretty much true, to my eye)

TB Iris 'Royal Storm' is easily the most striking iris currently blooming back there

this definitely demonstrates the problems in photographing blue or purple blooms! Photo in sunlight came out much too blue...

TB Iris 'Silver Dividends' has a lovely fragrance and just a touch of ice-blue at the base of the petals

TB Iris 'Daughter of Stars' is one of my favorites, with its huge sturdy blooms

Close up of Captains choice. My favorite one today.

I have to agree with the crowd here, Captions Choice is a stunner. I do love the highly contrasting two colored iris.

You mean you get on DG without a drool bib next to you? I can't get anywhere DG without a drool bib and keep a fresh pile of them next to my computer.

Somehow I've been able to maintain somewhat of a restraint on myself...painfully so at that!
Hmmmm...are your drool bibs the disposable variety? Packs of 10, 25, 50, 100...or do you get the jumbo package? ;)

OH I have to get the jumbo package of disposables!! And keep a large trash can next to the desk. Otherwise, I'd drowned the computer!! ROFL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Maybe in the next year or two DH and I can take the trek up to the great NW and see all of the huge Iris gardens...Big Sigh.
Can you do me a favor? If you happen to pass by 'June Krausse', can you take a pic of it in the garden setting there and post it here when you get back (along with many other pics I'm sure :) )? Here's a close up of it from Schreiner's online...
