It has done very well, & displays magnificently color-saturated blooms. 'Mauve' as many on the Web have used to describe it, lacks definition. This rose definitely shows a hot-pinkish-purple to warm pinkish-purple range of blooms. Loud and clear color - with a rich, heady, warm exotic perfume that sometimes carries on the air around the yard. I stop gardening to just sit and breathe it. When the fragrance wafts in the open windows, I stop whatever I'm doing to just let its calm beauty soak into me. I later figured out an older rose, planted by previous owners on the other side of the property, was of the same display and perfume - Ah! I have Two such beauties, and am thrilled about it! I have not done any hard pruning yet, just some clean-up of older branches. Every third year or so, they "die off" a group of branches, then naturally start afresh on their own. We just give them some 'Mile-High Rose Food' twice a year and delight in their performance.

I suggest planting it at the back of a planting as it gets tall and if you have some defoliation due to the blackspot at the bottom you can hide it with shorter stuff planted in front of it.

Fragrance is incredible! Keep it pruned, though, some of mine grew to about 12 feet tall!
