This plant shows an amazing tolerance to temperature variation as it gets to triple digit weather in California regularly during the summer yet this plant still happily grows in moderate shade with constant moisture, but not wetness, around its roots. the growth is quite compact with individual fans not exceeding 15 inches in leaf span and clumping kept tightly around the main growths. The species seems to tolerate variations in humidity quite well and would lend itself quite easily to cultivation inside a home with bright light and regular moisture present. The flower spikes present during the summer months from mature fans but stall until late November and early December to open their buds. The flowers are anywhere from 4.5 to 6 or more inches in natural spread in various shades of violet, pink, green, and brown and can last 4 weeks or more in perfect condition. A very reccomendable species for those just beginning in the cultivation of paphiopedilums .
