I planted Heart o' Gold in January, along with all of my other bare-root roses. Now it's September, and most of the garden is flourishing...Read More, but for some reason this one is really sulking. It is small and spindly, hasn't bloomed, and is having trouble keeping its leaves, while the Tropicana right next to it is tall, green, and full of flowers. It is a brutally hot climate in Fresno in the summer, but many roses tolerate that just fine. Has anyone else experienced difficulty with this one? I would love to coax a bloom out of it for the much-discussed color, but I'm seriously thinking about digging it up to give to a family member near the coast.
