Known to Jefferson in 1774 as the "Canteloupe Massa", also recorded in Vilmorin's "The Vegetable Garden" in 1885 as "Early Cantelope". Considered lost by many even to this day. We only know of 3 other sources throughout the world for it today. Dates back as far as 1754 in Literature. Do not confuse with "Prescott Fond Blanc" as Zatta is not as flattened and in opinion by many much more beautiful, sweeter, and tastier, does not slip when ripe. The ugliest melon we have come across in a long time! However, this has become our favorite! From Italy known as "Brutto ma Buono" or "Ugly but Tasty" you can not imagine such flavor! "
