It starts blooming here mid-April and has nice large sized purple tulips and blooms until mid-May and then starts filling in with large darker green leaves.

I do take cuttings in early February

They do get wider than taller over the years.

Mine is about 7 feet tall and 10 feet wide right now.

Unlike the white tulip Magnolia that is the opposite in height and width (I have one of those too and it is about 40 feet tall and about8 feet wide)

Smell sweet too.

They are similar to the Star Magnolia as far as size but the Star is much more bushy and full of sweet flowers.

These 3 are GREAT trees to have that look better every year and you don't have to do anything but look at them and smell the flowers and I never have had any insects or animals attack them either.

The Star and White tulip Magnolias bloom first around April 1st and they are almost done by the time the purple Maggie is in full bloom.
