I don't have any information yet on hardiness, but now that I have a seedling I will plant it out and see what the sun and cold does to it.
After growing it for a year I have discovered it is a vigorous grower outdoors in southern California, and handles high heat and cold (that we get) fine, so far. It grows to a maximum of about 2' tall, if that, and tends to topple over a bit at that point. It is quickly filling up the available space in the planter box I have it in. Cuttings transplant easily. Tends to redden in full sun, or low water situations. Spots are retained. Still not seen it flower yet.
Moved a cutting (very easy to grow from cuttings by the way) to the front yard where more light is available, and, tada! it is flowering. Flower is coming up in April, and looks like it's going to be red with greenish tips - turns out they have red to red-orange flowers that turn suddenly a pale yellow as they open and drop downward (for hummingbirds I presume). Flowering time is pretty short (about a week for entire flower to open and expire).
