The plant is shaded from the hot afternoon Florida sun by my house and receives plenty of morning and early afternoon sun.
After a recent period of pretty severe drought in August , the plant experienced severe leaf burn. Virtually every leaf tip was affected. Although we'd had some very dry weather earlier in the year, I watered daily at that time and no leaf burn occurred. Because of personal problems I couldn't provide supplemental watering for two weeks during the most recent dry spell when the plant was damaged.
Obviously, this plant needs special attention during hot dry weather. Also, if deer are a problem in your area, be prepared.
I'm not giving up yet. I'm going to protect the plant with screening this winter.

Out of 40+ nearby cultivars, this variety withheld...Read More record breaking temperatures in South Carolina (3 weeks straight of 100+ degrees F) with no burning. Some dissectums were completely defoliated and even mature hardy green cultivars experienced tip burn, but this variety (even in a 3 gal can) came through completely unscathed.
On a side note I believe this is a patented cultivar, selected by Dr. Dirr of UGA for heat tolerance and vigor.
