I have two C. pygmaea growing there since early 2014 and they are doing very well, despite being in a very harsh location with mostly shade in winter and full summer sun from late morning to evening. I have another one in a pot hanging on a north-facing lattice under a canvas cover. It gets no direct sun and is seldom watered. It seems to be happy, too. All of these get light frost protection, so I don't know how frost hardy they are. The in-ground ones are under a 5-foot tall fabric cold frame in winter. Temperature outside the cold frame has dropped as low as 26F for several successive nights.
It is now May 2019 and the 3 C, pygmaea I mentioned above as being in my garden are still doing well. I have added another in the ground which is unprotected in winter and it is doing fine. Also added another in a pot, also doing well, but it goes in a pop-up greenhouse in winter. I love this plant.
