It is fairly slow growing, and blooms twice a year--even in January in 2012, the year of no-winter. I have yet to get any berries, despite the huge potential, but I suspect thieving birds as the bushes have never been netted like the blueberries. They have had no health problems, other than some leaf fade when in need of a semi-annual dousing of pine needles and fish emulsion.
My three plants were grown in fullish (10a-4p) sun, on a south-facing slope with only rare waterings, but have been potted up (jammed in) in 15" pots, and moved to a new house. The poor things have spent a year sitting in their pots on the driveway, but still look beautiful and healthy, are blooming again, and many of the little branches broken off (while I wrenched them out of the ground) have rooted after being stuck in a pot of dirt.
