I've found that the bulbs are very prone to Hippeastrum mites that cause red rot, especially in cool conditions.
I think it should be kept in growth indoors in the winter, in a South facing window (like Eucharis).

Just 2 days ago, my first new blooms appeared. I'm ecstatic! I live on an acre of lave on the Big Island of Hawai`i. I must move enough rocks to create a hole, then pour in soil (that I make myself). It seemed to work for this plant.

They generally last about a week.

Be patient as it is a slow grower and may take 2-3 years from seed to first bloom.
It also is very slow to multiply when first transplanted.
Once established it does though multiply quite well.

Unlike most Hippeastrum it does not require any dormancy and is evergreen.

We move it outdoors in Summer.
Winter in south facing window or under lights.
