Here in Phoenix it is not quite as vigorous, but it usually survives the summer heat and survives the winter with protection and often without protection. I have occasionally had two year old plants. Unlike NM where each plant would bear prolifically, here I get only a dozen or so peppers from a plant in the fall through winter and perhaps a few in the spring. Other Hatch-style hot pepper varieties do poorly for me here.
