It is noted as being oval-round in form and bearing its fall color later than most other Red Maples. Depending on conditions the fall color ranges from orange to red, and it colors better than 'Red Sunset' farther south in Zones 7b and 8. However, I am afraid that there is a lack of genetic diversity in planted trees because these two cultivars make up the majority of the stock. It would be better to diversify with more straight species plants and with more cultivars that are local in their origin to each area.
