It flowers profusely in early June. The flowers are almost all white, but some of the outermost petals have a pink tinge. As the flowers decline the petals fall to make a light carpet on the grass beneath. The bark of the old stems exfoliates in light cinnamon-colored sheets. The only thing I've done to it is give it some renewal pruning since it's very old and had gotten leggy amongst the overgrown shrubbery surrounding it.

How do I thicken it up so it is more shrub like and not as tall. I have been staring at it for about 6 years and finally decided that I need to ask someone for help with all of the old plants/shrubs/flowers in my yard. Any suggestions. Thanks!
