You'll see different recommendations for where to plan different species of Halesia, and I think you probably can't go wrong with part shade; but mine is growing very well in full sun (zone 8).
One curious thing about it - is that for the past two years the new growth has flopped over during early spring rain storms - and the branches never completely right themselves. So my plant has a rather "floppy" habit. Right now it is a large mound (maybe 8 feet tall by 10 feet wide).
This spring was the first time it bloomed (~ 3-4 years old), and it is a beautiful and graceful looking tree in flower. Looking forward to seeing what it does over time.
