Very xeric once established, hardy and pest free, fast growth, 4
season interest with lots of character. Good for medium and larger gardens. Can be multi stemmed to look more like a large shrub or pruned to a more treelike appearance. Possible negatives-thorns, so be careful if you have smaller children, although the thorns are small (1/2 inch length) and not too numerous. Also harder to find in nurseries(esp small sizes) but
rumored to be in Plant Select Program in 2011 so should be easier to find starting next year.
