I purchased this plant because of its beautiful yellow and green look. I thought it was a philodendron, come to find out it's a ctenanthe...Read More - which was alright. Then I noticed that this plant was aggravating all of my nice pothos and everything nearby it..almost like there was a humm or a buzz coming off this plant. I couldn't keep the leaves from browning no matter what I did for it. When I watered it the soil smelled awful and even after a transplant it still was funky. So, I isolated it and about a week later discovered mealybug deep within. I'm still dealing with the fungus gnats on rest of my plants, giving them hydrogen peroxide solution 1/2 cup with 3 cups water. Don't feel that my experience is typical, but I know I'll be much more skeptical with what I bring into my household collection.
