The peppers start out a glossy dark purple maturing to fire red. The heat scale of these peppers is the same as standard cayenne peppers. They have a better flavor in my opinion than "normal" red cayenne peppers. I have had best results growing this pepper in soil that has been ammended with quality aged manure/compost and lime. The plants seem to have no problems with any insects or diseases. Mulch around plants and keep soil moist. I have posted some pictures of this unique and rare pepper. Very good, dependable hot pepper of excellent quality in my experiences. Has a place in my garden each year.
