My Las Vegas, NV urban tree is still staked 5 years after planting because of our heavy winds, but it does seems to love Mojave Desert heat conditions very well, grow very fast, and happy to bloom with the 115F-deg heat. Blowing over in desert winds seems to be it's greatest weakness - so keep it cabled/staked for the first 5 years or so.
This tree is on drip irrigation and seems quite happy with what it gets on drip irrigation. Overall, it is a great tree if you are willing to give it support to not blow over for the first few years to develop the supporting root system. After that, you'll have a tree that will give you years of beautiful coral-colored flowers. And by the way, it doesn't make much of mess of litter in the garden either. It's a Star of the Garden for sure.

Seed (like all Eucalypts) should be harvested from mature seed pods at least one year old picked and placed in a paper bag or open container as the pod drys the seed along with "Chaff" will fall out on shaking the container.

Beautiful flowers on this smaller tree- flowers large and sometimes so many, branches weighed down towards ground. Good tree for desert areas.
