We lost two of the plants completely and all the others were horribly burned in the heat (yes, they had been deep watered prior to this occurring). There was a partial recovery during this last fall, winter and spring, but once again we had 115º heat, and there was massive die-off of leaves and whole branches. The formally lush plants are now sparse and sickly looking, and my gardener and I are sure they won't survive one more summer of heatwaves like the ones we've just experienced. Do *not* plant brush cherries where you could possibly experience these types of summer heatwaves. Now I just need to figure out what to replace them with - these were privacy hedges and are over 15' tall.

I will post pictures of them soon. They are growing fine now and will make very good bonsai . The trunks are 4-5 in. round and they stand two ft. tall. I live in Hemet ca. 92544 zip.

They are thriving during the 5 years since their original planting as a row hedge. He pruned the bottom so that just the trunk was showing. He did not water it regularly.

I purchased 2- (5) gallon plants this week and planted them in Riverside CA in clay, wet soil against a block wall that will give off radiant heat. I purchased them from Louie's nursery in Riverside Ca. They are ordering 3 more for me.

Has been planted in heavy, wet, clay soil in Bakersfield 93312 since March 2009 and is thriving.
