And even though it is from high elevations there ...Read More(up to 4000'), it's hardiness has been very disappointing to us growers here in southern California. It just is too wimpy. Even in the tropics its a slow growing palm taking forever to reach its ultimate height of 50'.
Petioles are thickly and striking striped, very similarly to C ophiopelis, which performs similarly poorly in most areas of S California. Turns out neither are super fast or easy in Hawaii, either. Not sure exactly how they differ, at least as seedlings.
