Small, colorful, and with the most interesting leaf I have ever seen.......what could be better? Only if it would grow here in San Clemente. I have grown a lot of tender palms here with our very good climate so I'll give this beauty a try but I'm not going to expect to much.

Fairly rare but popular species of palm from the Philippines. Many palms in cultivation are identified incorrectly as this species because they have mottled leaves (about half of all Pinangas have mottled leaves, but not THIS mottled). Leaves are variably split with most leaflet segments only indented a bit at the ends of a large grouping of them. Very attractive palm!
